Marklund is seeking a highly motivated and mission-centeredindividual for the position of Speech LanguagePathologistat the Marklund Day School in Bloomingdale withweekly travel to Geneva. The schedule is 32 hours per week (full-time)with flexible days and hours of 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM. The salary for thisposition is $68,000/year.Candidates mustbe able to perform theessential functions of the job and to meet its functional andenvironmental requirements.

Who We Are:

Marklund is a nonprofit organization that provides residential,educational and therapy services to infants, children, teens andadults with serious and profound developmental disabilities andspecial healthcare needs. With three residential locations – theMarklund Hyde Center in Geneva, the Marklund Philip Center inBloomingdale, and the Marklund Wasmond Center in Elgin, it iscurrently home to nearly 178 residents. The Marklund Day Schooloffers Multi-Needs and Life Skills programs for children and youngadults with multiple medical needs, and those diagnosed on the autismspectrum. In addition, our Community Day Services program at eachsite is a therapeutic day program for adults who reside at Marklundand those who come in from the community.

Responsibilities include:

  • Speech-language pathology evaluation and treatment for individualsat our Bloomingdale location.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate communicationabilities including receptive and expressive language skills,articulation, fluency, swallowing, pragmatic language, andaugmentative and alternative communication needs.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to developindividualized treatment plans based on assessment findings andindividual goals.
  • Utilize AAC systems and other assistive technology as appropriateto support communication development and enhance communication access.
  • Provide education and support to staff, families, and caregiverson communication strategies, AAC devices, and techniques tofacilitate language development and promote carryover of skills intodaily routines.
  • Monitor progress regularly through ongoing assessment and datacollection, documenting treatment interventions, progress notes, and reports.
