Job summary

HCA Florida JFK Hospital in Atlantis, FL is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to evaluate and treat patients to improve communication, cognition, and swallowing.

You will work with a diverse care team and contribute to patient recovery in an acute care setting, delivering evidence-based therapy and thorough documentation.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in SLP from an accredited program.
• State license to practice speech-language pathology.
• CCC-SLP certification often required or preferred; BLS certification.
• Minimum of one year experience in adult acute care or direct patient rehabilitation.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients using standardized tools and clinical observations.
• Create and update care plans for swallowing and communication.
• Educate patients and families on home strategies.
• Collaborate with doctors, nurses and other therapists for quality patient care.
• Document notes, evaluations, progress, and discharge summaries on a timely basis.

Job Summary And Qualifications

Speech Therapist (SLP) evaluates and treats patients to improve communication, cognition, and swallowing functions

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluating Patients: Use standardized tools, structured tests, and clinical observations to assess communication, memory, thinking, and swallowing skills
• Treatment Planning: Create and update custom care plans that help patients swallow safely and communicate clearly
• Patient Education: Teach patients and family members home strategies, safety rules, and therapy goals
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with doctors, nurses, and other therapists to ensure smooth patient care and recovery
• Documentation: Record daily notes, evaluations, progress reports, and discharge summaries accurately and on time

Standard Qualifications

• Education: Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
• Licensure: State professional license to practice speech-language pathology.
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) is frequently required or preferred.
• Experience: Prior experience in adult acute care or direct patient rehabilitation (often a minimum of one year)
