Great Prairie Area Education Agency Ottumwa Office in Ottumwa, IA is seeking a Speech-Language Assistant substitute for the 2026-2027 school year to support articulation, language, voice and fluency services under the supervision of a Speech-Language Pathologist.

Starting pay is $16.89-$17.39/hour. This role serves Region 3 and requires travel between schools. Must be 18+, with a high school diploma, and strong interpersonal/communication skills for collaboration with staff and families.

• Assists Speech-Language Pathologist in material preparation.
• Participates in parent/teacher conferences or staffings as requested by the Speech-Language Pathologist.
• Maintains confidentiality of all student information.
• Maintains data required for use in local school district (LEA), AEA, state and federal reporting.
• Assumes such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the assigned Speech-Language Pathologist and the Regional Special Education Director.
• Participate in staff development opportunities as requested by the assigned Speech-Language Pathologist and the Regional Director.

Region 3: Cardinal, Davis County, Moulton-Udell, Ottumwa, Ottumwa Christian and Seton Catholic.

Position Overview:

The Speech-Language Assistant provides articulation, language, voice and fluency services to students as specified by the assigned Speech-Language Pathologist.

Qualifications:

The Speech-Language Assistant must be at least 18 years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent. The candidate must have the experience or capacity to demonstrate positive interpersonal skills, cooperative teamwork, and excellent written and verbal communication.
