Requirements

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 180 Day Position – Full Time

START DATE: August 18, 2025

Minimum Qualifications/Required Skills

  • Current and Valid Illinois Speech Language Pathologist Teaching or Non-Teaching Endorsement.
  • Master’s degree required from a program accredited by the American Speech-Language Association.
  • Able to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

Responsibilities/Duties

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide support services to elementary school students.
  • Coordinates or serves as a member of a diagnostic team and educational planning and placement committee.
  • Serves as a resource to school staff members in the development of a balance program for oral communication and speech improvement.
  • Collaborates with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement therapy suggestions for student’s daily activities.
  • Assists and guides teachers in observing, describing and referring suspected and identified speech and language impairments.
  • Perform casework services with parents as an integral part of assisting students. Increase parents understanding and participation in resolving their child’s needs and informing them of appropriate resources available.
  • Responsible for writing and implementing individual education plans and have familiarity with response to intervention.
  • Ability to make home visits for the purpose of gathering information on a student’s background and needed interventions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records for the purpose of monitoring student progress.
  • Assesses student progress towards targets and standards for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administration throughout the learning process.
  • Communicates and collaborates with instructional staff, school personnel, parents and a variety of community resources for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes.
  • Understanding of various formal and informal assessment strategies and uses them to support the continuous development of students.
  • Perform such other appropriate duties as may be assigned by the building Principal.
