Job summary

Tutor Me Education is seeking an In-Home Special Education Tutor to deliver personalized 1:1 academic instruction and socio-emotional support in students’ homes across California. You’ll tailor strategies to each child’s IEP goals and collaborate with families.

This flexible, part-time W-2 role starts with 2–10 hours per week per student, with growth opportunities as you take on more students. A bachelor’s or higher in Special Education, Psychology, or Education is preferred; bilingual

Responsibilities

About the Role

At Tutor Me Education, we connect passionate educators with neurodivergent students for high-impact, 1:1 in-home tutoring. As an In-Home Special Education Tutor, you'll deliver personalized academic instruction, socio-emotional support, and patient behavioral guidance aligned to each student's learning style and IEP goals — right in their home.

This is a flexible, part-time W-2 employee role. Start with one student (~2–10 hrs/week) and take on additional students whenever you'd like to grow your hours and income.

What You'll Do

• Lead engaging 1:1 sessions tailored to students with diverse learning needs
• Implement creative lesson plans aligned to each student's IEP goals (full resources and support from our team)
• Adapt academic materials to each student's unique learning profile
• Track progress after each session and keep open, empathetic communication with parents and guardians
• Foster a safe, inclusive environment that builds confidence and resilience

Who We're Looking For

• AA, BA, or higher (Special Education, Psychology, or Education preferred)
• Hands-on experience supporting students with special needs or learning differences (e.g., ASD, ADHD, Dyslexia) — currently enrolled college students with this experience are encouraged to apply
• Empathy, patience, and a student-first approach
• Reliable vehicle for local travel to client homes
• Ability to pass a background check
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) a strong plus — premium rates available for bilingual matches

Pay

$25–$35+ per hour, based on your credentials, specialization, and the needs of the student you're matched with. Most roles fall in the $25–$35+ range; higher rates apply for credentialed or specialized tutors, higher-need cases, and bilingual (Spanish/English) matches.
