Job summary

Science Academies of New York in Rochester, NY, seeks a Special Education Teacher for grades 3–6 for the 2026-2027 academic year. NYS Students with Disabilities or SPED certification is required; experience with diverse urban populations is a plus.

You will design engaging lessons aligned to the charter’s curriculum, collaborate with staff on instructional goals, and help students prepare for state assessments. Strong classroom management and data-informed instruction are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
• NYS Students with Disabilities or SPED certification required.
• Experience with diverse population of students or in an urban setting a plus.
• Prior teaching experience preferred; new teachers encouraged to apply.
• Fingerprint clearance through NYS Department of Education.

Responsibilities

• Provide engaging lesson plans aligned to the charter curriculum.
• Collaborate with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
• Prepare students for state standardized tests relevant to the content area.
• Demonstrate strong content knowledge and pedagogy.
• Use data analytics to drive instruction and promote learning.
• Maintain excellent classroom management and accountability.
