Job summary

Comal ISD's Pieper Ranch Middle School in San Antonio, Texas seeks a SpEd Teacher/Coach to deliver special education instruction and coach student athletes. The role includes ARD participation, IEP development, and collaboration with families and staff.

Starting Date is immediately. Valid SPED certification is required; ESL certification within one year is preferred. CDL with endorsements or ability to obtain within 30 days is also required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements for assignments.
• ESL Certification within one year of employment (MS Teachers and others preferred).
• CDL Class B with P and S endorsement (or ability to obtain within 30 days).
• Attend state mandated 20 hour TEA certification class.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with students, parents, and staff to develop IEP via ARD process for each student.
• Implement instructional/therapeutic programs and show written prep evidence.
• Plan and use varied instructional strategies reflecting student needs.
• Work with teachers to modify curricula and assist SPED students in regular classes.
• Participate in ARD Committee meetings regularly.
• Assess student learning styles and use results for planning.
• Present subject matter according to IEP guidelines.
• Use technology in teaching/learning process.
• Supervise athletic activities and practice sessions to promote athletic growth.
• Plan and supervise assignments for aides and volunteers.
• Instruct and advise students on NCAA regulations governing scholarships.
