Job summary

Sylvania in Pharr, Texas is looking for a dedicated individual to help meet the physical and instructional needs of students with disabilities. You will assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEP) and work under the supervision of a principal and certified teacher.

The ideal candidate should possess at least an Associate's degree or 48 college hours, with a preference for a valid Texas educational aide certificate. Experience working with children is preferred.

Job description

Primary Purpose

Help meet physical and instructional needs of individual students with disabilities inside and outside classroom. Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEP), including self-help, behavior management, and instruction programs. Work under general supervision of principal and immediate direction of certified teacher.

Qualifications

Education/Certification

• Associate’s degree, two years of study at an institution of higher learning (at least 48 college hours); or have met formal academic assessment as required by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).
• Valid Texas educational aide certificate preferred.

Special Knowledge/Skills

• Ability to work with children with disabilities.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively.

Experience

• Experience working with children, preferred.
