Job summary

Comal Independent School District seeks a dedicated Special Education Teacher to develop and implement individualized education plans for students with special needs. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
• Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements for assignments.
• Teaching certification in multiple areas is preferred.
• Teachers must obtain ESL Certification within one year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with students, parents, and other staff to develop IEP through ARD for each student assigned.
• Implement instructional, therapeutic, or skill development program and document preparation as required.
• Plan and use diverse instructional strategies reflecting learning styles and needs of students.
• Work with classroom teachers to modify regular curricula and assist special education students in regular classes.
• Participate in ARD Committee meetings regularly.
• Assess student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
• Present subject matter according to IEP guidelines.
• Use a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet student needs.
• Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides and volunteers.
• Use technology in teaching/learning processes.
