Job summary

Portales Municipal Schools in Portales, New Mexico, is seeking a Special Education Educational Assistant to provide classroom, instructional, behavioral, personal care, and student-specific support to students with disabilities under the direction of licensed personnel. Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED (Associate's Degree or above desirable.)
• Must hold or qualify for a New Mexico Level III Educational Assistant license (minimum of associate degree or appropriate college credits or obtain a passing score on the Educational Assistant's assessment)
• Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed.
• Additional education and/or experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom, instructional, and student support under licensed personnel.
• May provide one-on-one support to a student requiring additional academic, behavioral, developmental, physical, medical, communication, mobility, or safety assistance.
• Follow student plans and implement health, safety, or educational plans as directed.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with FERPA and district policies.
• Demonstrate patience, flexibility, sound judgment, professionalism in interactions with students with significant or complex needs.

Education
