Job summary

Hinds County School District is seeking a Special Education Case Manager to oversee Alternate Assessment, Child Find, reevaluations, MSIS updates, and IEP-related processes. The role reports to the Director of Exceptional Services and requires a valid SPED license and experience in Exceptional Education.

The position focuses on ensuring compliance, accurate data management, and collaboration with counselors, teachers, and district staff to support qualified students in a timely and compliant

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Alternate Assessment — assist with training.
  • Alternate Assessment — serve as Test Administrator/Second Scorer.
  • Maintain list of alternately assessed students and expected tested grade-level/subject.
  • Child Find — take parental requests.
  • Child Find — confirm residency for 3- to 5-year-olds.
  • Child Find — communicate requests to psychometry, participate in MET meetings.
  • Reevaluations — train teachers, monitor expiration dates, oversee data collection, process reevaluations.
  • MSIS — school 500 student updates, schedules, and data entry.
  • Teacher Rosters — monitor rosters for 18-student cap and corrections.
  • Sped Equipment Inventory — record location, check in/out equipment, fixed asset procedures.
  • Assistive Technology — conduct assessments, train staff, maintain and replace equipment.
  • Educational Software — maintain student/teacher accounts, enroll new students.
  • IEP Development and Reevaluations; ESY determinations; progress monitoring; data collection/interpretation; compliance.

Roles And Responsibilities
  • Alternate Assessment
    • Assist with training
    • Serve as Test Administrator/Second Scorer
    • Maintain list of alternately assessed students and expected tested grade-level/subject

    • Conduct annual MSIS student update for each student
    • Collaborate with counselors to ensure all students are populating in the MSIS SPED module
    • Collaborate with District MSIS Manager to ensure compliance

    • Collaborate with guidance counselors to ensure students are appropriately coded in STI so that they will be picked up in MSIS Sped Module
