Job summary

Black Cape is hiring a Spectacular Full Stack Software Engineer (entry to senior levels) to join a dynamic, intelligent team in Arlington, VA. The role blends cloud-native web applications, data analysis tools, and AI/ML capabilities for federal government customers.

The position requires 2–3 days on-site per week with potential for up to 5 days as client needs dictate. You will work in a fast-paced, technically rigorous environment on mission-critical projects.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional software development experience.
• Proficient in at least one OO language (Java, Python, C#, or C++).
• Experience with at least one MVC framework (Spring, Django, Flask, or Rails).
• Experience with a relational database (MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQLite).
• Experience with Linux distributions (Ubuntu, RedHat, CentOS).
• Working knowledge of HTTP, HTML, REST, CSS, and JavaScript.

Onsite Expectations

MUST be willing to go onsite 2 - 3 days per week; could be up to 5 days per week - as the customer needs

Clearance

MUST have an Active Top Secret or TS/SCI clearance

MUST HAVE an Active Top Secret OR Top Secret SCI Clearance

Required Technical Skills (MUST HAVES)

• 2+ years of professional experience needed for MOST of our opportunities
• Proficient in at least ONE Object-Oriented language such as Java, Python, C# or C++ - NOT All, just ONE OO language
• Experience with at least ONE MVC framework, perhaps including Spring, Django, Flask or Rails
• Experience with at least ONE relational database, such as MySQL, PostgreSQL or sqlite3
• Experience working with Linux distributions like Ubuntu, RedHat, or CentOS
• Working knowledge of web application basics like HTTP, HTML, REST, CSS, and JavaScript

Preferred Technical Skills (NICE TO HAVES)

• Proficient in at least one scripting language like Python, Bash, or Perl
• Familiar with web server configuration on NGINX, Apache, or similar
• Familiar with a JavaScript framework like React, Backbone, Angular, Ember or Vue.js
• Familiar with Bootstrap and Less
• Experience with NoSQL storage like ElasticSearch, Accumulo, and MongoDB is a plus.
