Job summary

Tallgrass is seeking a procurement professional in Houston to establish and drive procurement plans for assigned projects, aligning with stakeholders and corporate policies. The role supports RFI/RFP activities, supplier readiness, and competitive bidding during pre-FID decisions.

You will collaborate with engineering and project teams to ensure procurement inputs are on time for decision-making and budgeting, while maintaining policy compliance and effective supplier relations.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job Description
Primary Purpose

To establish and drive procurement plans for assigned Projects, in alignment with key stakeholders and adherence to Procurement, Corporate Policies and Sourcing Strategies. Responsible for driving competitive bidding for Projects pre-Final Investment Decisions, supplier readiness and support of several projects in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities
  • Supports the early phases of project sourcing activities by coordinating supplier engagement, managing the RFI/RFQ process, and consolidating preliminary cost estimates to support project budgeting.
  • A key link between engineering, project management, and procurement teams, this role ensures that procurement inputs are available on time for project decision-making and budget validation.
  • Setup and negotiate NDAs as needed.
  • Coordinate and manage RFI (Request for Information) and RFP (Request for Proposals) activities for new or upcoming projects.
  • Collect and consolidate supplier technical and commercial data to support pre-budget estimates and feasibility studies.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and strategic buyers to align sourcing strategies with project requirements and timelines.
  • Maintain accurate tracking of supplier responses, lead times, and preliminary costs in support of project planning.
  • Prepare summary reports and cost comparisons to support internal decision-making and budgeting.
  • Support supplier qualification, pre-selection and on-boarding for upcoming sourcing phases.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies and documentation standards throughout the pre-purchasing phase.
  • Assist in the transition from pre-budget activities to formal sourcing and purchase order stages.
  • Support creation and update of the Procurement Plan per project.
  • Support procurement execution escalation matters, including presenting and driving decisions from Tallgrass Leadership Team.
  • Work closely with suppliers to promote relations and partnerships that optimize their performance and the TCO for Tallgrass.
  • Ensure standard terms and conditions and contract templates are maintained and utilized, and Supplier’s offers evaluations are conducted in consideration of legal, risk and contractor assessments.
  • Collaborate with Internal Audit in managing compliance with Tallgrass policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Track and report key functional metrics for cost analysis, process review and benchmarking.
  • Collaborate professionally and courteously with team members, departments, and external partners to support company objectives.
  • Communicate clearly and listen actively in person and by phone.
  • Maintain reliable attendance and consistently high performance.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Prioritize personal, employee, public, and company-asset safety.

Qualifications
Minimum requirements
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum 5 years direct work experience in Technical Categories management (Rotating Equipment, Process Equipment, or static equipment, EPC or Engineering services, or other Oil & Gas related categories) may be considered as a substitute for a degree.
  • A minimum 5 years direct work experience in Project management (Oil & Gas or energy infrastructure related projects) may be considered as a substitute for a degree.
Experience/Specific Knowledge
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ active and direct work experience in Project Procurement.
  • Solid knowledge of financial terms and principles.
  • Must have experience with industry related commodities such as Rotating Equipment, Process Equipment or Static Equipment, or EPC/Engineering services.
  • Must be experienced in negotiating contractual terms conditions and legal clauses.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft applications (including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) for the purpose of word processing, spreadsheets and information retrieval.
  • Strong reading, listening and analytical skills and logical thought processes, with the ability to identify and resolve complex issues/problems.
  • Past experience working on projects from a procurement, project controls, and/or project management perspective preferred
Certifications, Licenses & Registrations
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.

Working Conditions
