Job summary

Spectraforce Technologies in Dublin, OH is seeking a Specimen Processor I to manage specimen sorting and data entry in a fast-paced lab environment.

This 3-month contingent role may convert to full-time based on performance. Schedule: Tue–Sat, 4:00 AM–12:30 PM with possible OT and a 15% third-shift differential.

Requirements include a high school diploma, basic computer and typing skills, and the ability to lift 30 lbs with PPE.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred experience in medical or production environments.
  • Proficient computer and typing skills.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs and wear protective equipment.
  • Comfortable handling human specimens including blood, urine and tissue.

Responsibilities

  • Introduce and prepare biological specimens for processing.
  • Open specimens and prepare secondary containers for analysis.
  • Verify patient demographics match test requisition forms.
  • Enter patient information into the computer system.
  • Meet production metrics and quality targets for timely results.
  • Unpack and route specimens to staging areas.
  • Pack and ship specimens to testing facilities as required.
  • Prepare and store excess specimen samples.
  • Resolve and document any problematic specimens.
  • Handle and dispose of medical and chemical waste.
  • Comply with environmental health and safety policies.
  • Operate automated instrumentation under supervision if needed.

Specimen Processor I

Location: 6370 Wilcox Rd, Dublin, OH 43016

Duration: 3 Months (Contingent Worker can be converted to Full Time Employee based on Performance)

Schedule: Tuesday- Saturday 4 AM-12:30 PM with possible OT. 3rd shift diff to be included-15%

Summary

The main function of a specimen processor is to perform specimen sample sorting and data entry in a fast-paced, environment.

Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Introduce and prepare biological specimens to the laboratory to ensure accurate processing.
  • Open specimens and pour off into secondary containers to prepare for analysis and testing.
  • Verify patient demographic information matches the test requisition form submitted.
  • Data entry of patient information into the computer system for tracking purposes.
  • Meet key production metrics and quality measures to ensure timely and accurate results.
  • Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas.
  • Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities when required.
  • Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples.
  • Resolve and document any problem specimens.
  • Handle and dispose of medical and chemical waste.
  • Comply with applicable environmental health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Operate automated instrumentation under supervision if necessary.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous medical or production experience is preferred.
  • Proficient computer and typing skills.
  • Standardized color vision test must be administered to evaluate if potential accommodation is needed for worker.
  • Comfortable handling human biological specimens including blood, urine and tissue samples.
  • Ability to lift up to 30lbs, work in protective equipment and sit/stand for long periods of time.
  • Strong eye hand coordination in order to accurately identify specimens by touch and sight.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • High level of attention to detail with the ability to problem solve.
  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal. 0-2 years of work experience.
