Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a part-time Specimen Accessioner/Processor at Henry Ford St. John in Detroit, MI. The role involves preparing specimens, labeling and routing, data entry, and shipping specimens to testing facilities.

You will work 6:30 AM–3:00 PM, 2–3 days a week, including every other weekend, in a fast-paced production lab. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma and a willingness to handle biological specimens.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 6 months+ experience in a medical or production environment preferred.
• Comfortable handling biological specimens.
• Strong data entry and organizational skills.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test.

Responsibilities

• Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing.
• Unpack and route specimens to their staging areas.
• Identify and label specimens accurately.
• Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities.
• Meet department activity and production goals.
• Prepare and store excess specimen samples.
• Data entry of patient information accurately and timely.
• Resolve and document any problem specimens.

Work Schedule: Part time working 6:30AM-3:00PM. Will work 2-3 rotating days/week and every other weekend

Job Responsibilities:

• Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing
• Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas
• Accurately identify and label specimens
• Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities
• Meet department activity and production goals
• Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples
• Data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner
• Resolve and document any problem specimens

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

• 6 months or more of experience in a medical or production environment
