Job Title: Specimen Collector
Location: Portland, OR
Position Type: Full Time (Hourly); Rate: $20/hr
We are currently seeking candidates for the Specimen Collector role at Precision Diagnostics. The role focuses on accurately collecting and processing laboratory specimens to support patient care and organizational success.
Responsibilities
- Provide a frictionless patient experience and compassionate care during specimen collection.
- Collect and process laboratory specimens (oral, urine, and/or blood) in strict accordance with established procedures.
- Accurately enter and verify order information and other data with high data‑entry accuracy.
- Ensure specimen collection, labeling, and shipping accuracy to support downstream testing.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, federal, and state regulations, as well as corporate policies.
- Follow and maintain clean, orderly client/work areas, uphold personal hygiene, and meet dress code standards.
- Conduct direct observation during specimen collection when required and troubleshoot missing or incorrect information.
- Manage inventory of supplies and coordinate ordering of Precision Diagnostics materials.
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license and auto insurance; successful motor vehicle record check.
- Flexibility to travel between multiple clinics and up to 30 miles.
- Prior experience in specimen collection (phlebotomist, medical assistant, nurse’s aide, etc.) preferred.
- In‑depth knowledge of specimen collection protocols, preventive bio‑hazard practices, and PPE.
- Basic computer literacy and ability to learn new technology.
- Strong communication skills—written and verbal—and ability to interact effectively with a diverse patient population.
- Attention to detail, adherence to checklists, and ability to maintain composure in confrontational situations.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Relevant certifications required for specimen collection (if applicable).
