Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a Specialty Unit Staff RN in the PICU to provide professional nursing care using the nursing process in line with established standards and procedures.

This per diem, day-shift role leads the health care team, delegates tasks, and develops individualized care plans while monitoring progress and ensuring safety and pain control.

Qualifications

• BSN preferred
• 1 year PICU experience or KP PICU course within 12 months
• CA RN license
• PALS
• BLS from AHA
• ONS Provider Certification or Pediatric Chemo Provider within 6 months

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care using the nursing process.

What You’ll Do

• Provide professional nursing care utilizing the nursing process.
• Uphold Kaiser Permanente’s policies and procedures.
• Serve as a leader of the health care team and delegate tasks appropriately.
• Develop and contribute to individualized plans of care.
• Monitor patient progress and revise care plans as needed.
• Ensure patient safety and optimal pain control.
• Practice customer service standards and maintain patient confidentiality.
• Act as a resource, preceptor, and mentor to new employees and students.
• Organize work to minimize the use of overtime.
• Participate in problem identification and resolution.

Requirements

Education:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred

Experience:

• 1-year recent experience in PICU or completion of a KP PICU course within the last 12 months

Licenses & Certifications:

• Registered Nurse License (California)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support
• Basic Life Support from American Heart Association
• Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Provider Certification or Pediatric Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Provider Certification within 6 months of hire
