Job summary

Saint Joseph Health System is seeking a Full-time Nursing Assistant/Unit Secretary to support the RN in delivering quality patient care and maintaining a safe environment.

Responsibilities include vital signs, ADLs, charting, admissions and transports, with emphasis on accuracy and efficiency. Telemetry training is preferred, and prior CNA/Unit Secretary experience is valued.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• 1–2 years’ experience with medical terminology and nursing support.
• Experience as Nursing Assistant or Unit Secretary preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist RN to deliver quality care and maintain a safe environment.
• Record basic nursing care tasks, vitals, ADLs, I&O, and specimens in charts.
• Assist with admissions, discharges and transports as needed.
• Maintain clean, calm, and organized patient areas and nursing station.

Responsibilities

Assists RN to deliver appropriate quality care, performs specified nursing procedures and provides for a clean and safe environment under the supervision of the RN. Ambulates or assists with transfer activities utilizing proper equipment and safety techniques. Performs and records in patients' charts, basic nursing care procedures such as ADL's, Vital Signs, Collecting Specimens, I & O and weights. Assists the registered nurse in the process of admissions, discharges, and transports. Provides a clean, calm, safe, quiet environment. Cleans nursing station, utensils, patient care equipment, kitchens, refrigerators, and storage areas as assigned. Maintains patient chart for current use, this includes filing reports, inserting and removing forms appropriately and breaking down charts for medical records. Performs other related duties as assigned or as workload or staffing variations require.

Requirements

Education: High School graduate.

Licensure: None

Experience: 1-2 years' experience with medical terminology, Nursing Assistant and/or Unit Secretary preferred.

Other Job Requirements

Trained in telemetry in order to review data from special equipment to track a patient's heart rate & blood pressure.
