Job summary

Ochsner Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to work with the specialty pharmacy team. You will coordinate processing, filling, packing, and shipping prescriptions, maintaining inventory, and assisting with intake and refills to ensure timely access for patients.

This job works hand in hand with the specialty pharmacy team members, referring doctors, nursing staff, and care coordinators. Responsible for working directly with patients to navigate the specialty pharmacy process, ensuring patients receive timely access to their prescribed medications. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, coordinating processing, filling, packing, and shipping of prescriptions. Maintains inventory. Assists with intake and refills as necessary. Participates in special projects/committees as needed.

Education

Required – High school diploma or equivalent

Work Experience

Required – 2 years’ experience as a Pharmacy Technician

Preferred – Experience in Specialty Pharmacy

Certification

Required – Pharmacy Technician Certification in the state of practice

• Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.

• Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.

• Negotiation skills to assist the patient in navigation of the health care system.
