Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital seeks a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist to provide leadership in chronic disease and specialty medication management. This role ensures appropriate drug therapy, serves as a primary drug-information resource, and leads education for staff and students.

The position emphasizes advanced clinical skills, system implementation, and collaboration across the medication-use process within a 525-bed tertiary care hospital, including trauma and stroke centers.

Qualifications

• Licensed pharmacist in Virginia or eligibility to obtain license in Virginia.
• Doctorate preferred; Bachelor’s degree required.
• Experience in hospital or specialty pharmacy settings is preferred; residency PGY1/PGY2 trained is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage patient drug therapy per clinical standards.
• Advise on provider medication orders for safety and efficacy.
• Lead and educate staff; participate in system-wide initiatives.
