Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Specialty Pharmacist located at Hospital Sisters Health System in Springfield, IL. The role supports care teams in managing complex diseases and optimizing therapy on a full-time schedule (Mon–Fri, 8:00am-4:30pm or 8:30am-5:00pm).

You will review orders, provide pharmacotherapy management, and supervise technicians while ensuring regulatory compliance and high-quality patient outcomes in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• PharmD or BS Pharmacy degree.
• Active pharmacist license in Illinois in good standing.
• Ambulatory or specialty experience preferred.
• Proficiency with EMR systems Cerner, EPIC or Meditech; dispensing systems Willow Ambulatory, QS1, RX30, Computer Rx.

Responsibilities

• Review, verify, and dispense medication orders to ensure safety and accuracy.
• Provide clinical pharmacy services, including medication therapy management and pharmacokinetic dosing and monitoring.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and care teams to optimize medication regimens for hospitalized patients.
• Oversee sterile and non-sterile compounding activities, ensuring USP compliance.
• Monitor patient outcomes and medication safety; identify and prevent adverse drug events.
• Supervise pharmacy technicians and interns; ensure efficient workflow.
• Ensure regulatory and accreditation compliance (Joint Commission, state, federal).

We are currently conducting a search for a full-time Specialty Pharmacist to join a growing team of colleagues at our customer site, Hospital Sisters Health System, to provide outstanding service to patients with complex, specialty diseases to help them achieve improved clinical outcomes.

Pharmacy Location: Located within Hospital Sisters Health System in Springfield, IL

Schedule: Monday through Friday, either 8:00am - 4:30pm or 8:30am - 5:00pm

Primary Responsibilities:

• Review, verify, and dispense medication orders to ensure appropriateness, safety, and accuracy
• Provide clinical pharmacy services, including medication therapy management and pharmacokinetic dosing and monitoring
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and care teams to optimize medication regimens for hospitalized patients
• Oversee sterile and non-sterile compounding activities, ensuring compliance with USP and hospital standards
• Monitor patient outcomes and medication safety, identifying and preventing adverse drug events
• Supervise and support pharmacy technicians and interns, ensuring efficient and compliant workflow
• Ensure regulatory and accreditation compliance, including Joint Commission, state, and federal requirements

Required Qualifications:

• PharmD or BS Pharmacy degree
• Active pharmacist license in good standing in the state of Illinois

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ambulatory or specialty experience
• Proficiency in multiple EMR systems such as Cerner, EPIC or Meditech
• Proficiency with dispensing systems such as Willow Ambulatory, QS1, RX30, Computer Rx, etc.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $91,700 - $163,700 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
