Qualifications

As a full-time, nonexempt Specialty Pharmacist you'll play a vital role in delivering safe, accurate, and efficient pharmacy services. This is a hands‑on opportunity to make a direct impact by ensuring the accuracy of medication orders, verifying technician‑prepared products, and safeguarding controlled substances. You'll contribute to a high‑performing team by mentoring new staff, maintaining seamless daily operations, and supporting the Director in optimizing pharmacy performance.

Schedule

This full-time, nonexempt position will work 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm.

Location

Oaklawn Hospital was founded in 1925 as a 12‑bed hospital in a residential home, funded by a group of visionary philanthropists. Now, over 100 years later, we are licensed for 77 acute care beds and a 17‑bed inpatient psychiatric unit. Our service area includes Calhoun County and parts of Branch and Eaton counties with a medical staff of more than 300 providers representing over 50 specialties.

Pharmacy Hours

The pharmacy utilizes Arbor, Athena, and ScriptPro. Pharmacy hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Review and manage specialty medication therapies for complex, chronic, or high‑cost conditions
  • Provide patient education and counseling, focusing on adherence, administration, side effects, and outcomes
  • Coordinate care with providers, payers, and manufacturers to ensure therapy access and continuity
  • Oversee prior authorizations and utilization management, ensuring compliance with payer and program requirements
  • Monitor effectiveness and safety of therapy, including lab values, adherence metrics, and patient‑reported outcomes
  • Ensure compliance with REMS and accreditation standards, including documentation and reporting requirements
  • Support quality initiatives and outcomes reporting, meeting specialty pharmacy performance and regulatory metrics

Required Qualifications
  • ACPE‑accredited pharmacy degree
  • Current Michigan Pharmacist license in good standing
  • Current MI Controlled Substance license or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
  • Proficient computer skills with pharmacy systems and Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications
  • PharmD
  • Experience in hospital or retail setting
  • Prior Authorization experience

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $44.00 to $79.00 per hour based on full‑time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
