Job summary

Optum is seeking a Specialty Fulfillment Pharmacist to perform final quality checks on prescription orders and support the Fulfillment Team. You will assist in fulfilling pharmacy orders, supervise technicians, and participate in process improvements within a dynamic, non-exempt role.

The position requires an Indiana pharmacist license, a PharmD or BS in Pharmacy, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods. Shift: Sun–Thu 5:30 AM–2 PM with occasional overtime.

Qualifications

  • BS in Pharmacy and/or PharmD.
  • Active Indiana pharmacist license in good standing.
  • Proficient in MS Office and Windows environment (Word/Outlook).
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand up to 8 hours.

Responsibilities

  • Perform final verification of dispensed prescriptions prior to packing and shipping.
  • Oversee activities of pharmacy technicians, clerks, and other personnel.
  • Organize workload, set priorities, and complete assignments timely.
  • Ensure compliance with department program standards and pharmacy laws.

Education

As a non-exempt, Specialty Fulfillment Pharmacist, you'll primarily be responsible for performing the final quality check on our members' prescription orders, assisting in all areas of Pharmacy Fulfillment, and acting as a resource for the entire Fulfillment Team while also flexing to support other operational duties as assigned by pharmacy leadership.

Hours for this role: Sunday -Thursday 5:30 AM- 2 PM. Some occasional overtime.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Perform final verification of dispensed prescriptions prior to orders being packed and shipped
  • Oversees the activities of pharmacy technicians, clerks, and other personnel
  • Organizes workload, sets priorities, completes assignments in a timely manner
  • Utilizes resources appropriately while complying with department program standards
  • Performs all duties and functions in compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws and regulations
  • Assist Pharmacy Manager and/or Pharmacist-in-Charge in various projects as needed
  • Conforms with and supports department quality assurance and improvement guidelines
  • Ability to flex into all operational areas pharmacy, including inventory, picking, and packing

Required Qualifications
  • BS in Pharmacy and/or PharmD
  • Active pharmacist license in good standing in Indiana
  • Ability to navigate MS Office and a Windows based environment and the ability to create, edit, save, and send documents utilizing Microsoft Word
  • Ability to navigate Outlook and conduct Internet searches
  • Able to work the designated shift and flexible hours
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand for up to 8 hours with intermittent breaks
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ years of experience working as a licensed Pharmacist
  • Experience working in a mail order setting
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Solid teamwork and cooperation skills
