Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior leader to oversee Competitive Intelligence, delivering actionable insights to inform R&D, Human Health, and business strategy. The role partners with senior stakeholders to guide portfolio investments, product development, and commercialization strategies across the enterprise.

You will build and mentor a high-performing team while ensuring CI activities meet policy, legal, and ethical standards.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in a relevant field is required.
• 15+ years of experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry.
• Strong people management experience.
• Deep scientific understanding across multiple therapeutic areas.
• Global knowledge of pharmaceutical and biotech industries.

Responsibilities

• Oversee a team of Competitive Intelligence professionals.
• Deliver actionable insights, strategic assessments, and competitive intelligence.
• Inform business decisions across R&D, Human Health, Business Development, and the broader Enterprise.
• Serve as a strategic partner to senior stakeholders.
• Provide external perspectives, competitive insights, and strategic recommendations.
• Support portfolio investments, product development, commercialization strategies, business development evaluations, and Enterprise priorities.
• Attract, develop, and lead a high-performing team.
• Ensure competitive intelligence activities comply with corporate policies, legal requirements, and ethical standards.
• Build relationships with senior leaders across R&D and Human Health.
• Develop and communicate strategic plans, priorities, and workstreams.
• Communicate insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
• Coach, provide feedback to, and create growth opportunities for Competitive Intelligence Leads.
• Set expectations, drive accountability, and foster a collaborative culture.
• Help team members navigate change and evolving priorities.
• Prioritize resources against high-value business opportunities and strategic questions.
• Sponsor and guide Global Competitive Intelligence initiatives.
• Lead process improvements, capability development, and evaluation of new tools and technologies.

Requirements

• Advanced degree (MBA, MS, MD, PhD, or equivalent) required
• 15+ years of experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry
• Strong people management experience
• Strong scientific understanding of a range of therapeutic areas
• Broad understanding of global pharmaceutical and biotech industries
• In-depth knowledge of drug discovery and development processes
• Superior stakeholder management skills
• Ability to work as an expert team player
• Demonstrated leadership, influencing skills, creativity, problem-solving abilities, and ability to manage complexity
• Ability to build and manage collaborative relationships, particularly with senior management
