Job summary

AndHealth LLC is seeking Specialty Patient Engagement Specialists to join our team onsite at a health center partner site in Illinois. You will process prescriptions, verify benefits, and help patients access specialty medications while ensuring data accuracy and HIPAA compliance.

You will work closely with providers and pharmacists, support patient education, manage referrals, and use digital health tools to improve access and adherence in a startup-friendly environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• BLS obtained or willing to obtain.
• Certified or Registered Pharmacy Technician in IL required.
• Nationally certified - PTCB or ExCPT required or obtained within 6 months of hire.
• Willing to obtain licenses in multiple states.

Responsibilities

• Process prescriptions in the pharmacy operating system with accuracy and manage daily inventory activities.
• Complete benefits verification and enroll patients in copay cards or assistance programs to reduce costs.
• Collaborate with providers to address formulary restrictions and obtain prior authorizations.
• Communicate with patients about medication use, side effects, and upcoming fills/deliveries.
• Document all patient interactions in the specialty pharmacy system and route clinical needs to a pharmacist.
• Assist with patient referrals for specialty care and guide through onsite digital health questionnaires and AndHealth app.
• Generate adherence reports; ensure HIPAA compliance; provide on-site or remote support as needed.
• Maintain flexibility for on-site or cross-site remote coverage to support operations.

We are looking for Specialty Patient Engagement Specialists to play an important role at AndHealth.
This is an onsite position located at our Health Center partner site in Illinois.

What you'll do in the role:

• Accurately process prescriptions within the pharmacy operating system, ensure data accuracy, and support daily inventory activities like ordering and storing pharmaceuticals.
• Complete comprehensive benefits verification and help enroll patients in copay cards, patient assistance programs, or other secondary coverage to eliminate cost barriers.
• Collaborate closely with providers to address formulary restrictions and complete prior authorizations or appeals to ensure specialty medication access.
• Consistently communicate with patients to reassess medication utilization, identify potential side effects, and schedule upcoming fills or deliveries.
• Accurately document all patient interactions within the specialty pharmacy software and route any clinical needs directly to a pharmacist or licensed clinician.
• Manage patient medical referrals for specialty care, and support patients by guiding them through onsite digital health questionnaires and the AndHealth mobile app.
• Generate adherence reports, strictly follow HIPAA guidelines during all customer interactions, and provide flexible on-site or remote operational support as business needs evolve.
• Maintain flexibility to provide on-site support or cross-site remote assistance, ensuring operational continuity as business needs evolve.
• Other responsibilities as needed.

Education & Licensure Requirements:

• High School Diploma required.
• Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) obtained or willing to obtain.
• Certified or Registered Pharmacy Technician in the state of IL required.
• Nationally certified - PTCB or ExCPT required or obtained within 6 months of hire.
• Must be willing to obtain and maintain licenses or certifications in multiple states.

Other Skills or Qualifications:

• 3+ years of pharmacy experience is preferred.
• Bilingual; English and Spanish preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple things simultaneously.
• Comfortable with technology and the ability to adapt to new systems.
• Must be organized and able to work independently.
• Must have reliable transportation.

Additional Requirements:

• Tuberculosis (TB) Screening: Documentation of a negative screening conducted within the last 12 months.
• Hepatitis B: Proof of a completed vaccine series or a positive blood titer result from within the last 12 months.
• Measles, Mumps, & Rubella (MMR): Proof of a completed vaccine series or positive blood titers from within the last 12 months.
• Varicella (Chickenpox): Proof of vaccination, documented medical history of the disease, or positive blood titers from within the last 12 months.
• Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis): Documentation of a booster administered within the last 10 years.
• Influenza: Proof of vaccination for the current flu season.
• COVID-19: Documentation of primary vaccine series and any boosters administered.
• General: Additional health requirements may be requested as necessary.
