Job summary

NHS Lothian invites applications for a Specialty Doctor post based at Midlothian Community Hospital. The role forms part of the Midlothian Hospital at Home Service, delivering high-quality acute care closer to patients' homes with flexible, compressed working patterns and dedicated SPA time.

The successful applicant will hold full GMC registration, have at least four years of postgraduate training (two in a specialty training programme or LAT) or equivalent.

• At least four years of full-time postgraduate training (or equivalent) with at least two in a specialty training programme or specialty registrar locum appointment for training (LAT).
• Or equivalent training, experience or competencies, either in the UK or overseas.

Entry Criteria For a Specialty Doctor

A doctor appointed to this grade:

shall have full registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council (GMC);

And

• shall have completed at least four years’ full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a less than full-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme or specialty registrar locum appointment for training (LAT); Or
• shall have equivalent training, experience or competencies, either in the UK or overseas.

Applications are invited from Specialty Doctors, General Practitioners, and other suitably experienced clinicians to join the Midlothian Hospital at Home Service, based at Midlothian Community Hospital. Applicants with experience in acute medicine, frailty, general practice, community-based acute care or related specialties are welcomed. The service provides acute admission avoidance and supports early discharge through the delivery of high-quality acute care closer to home. There is no on call or out of hours working associated with this post other than working with colleagues to ensure public holidays are covered. The post offers flexible and compressed working, dedicated Supporting Professional Activity (SPA) time and regular multidisciplinary team working within an innovative Hospital at Home service.
