Cherry County Hospital & Clinic in Valentine, NE, seeks a Specialty Clinic Float Nurse (RN) to provide flexible nursing support across our outpatient services, including direct hematology/oncology care. The role covers patient assessments, medication administration, IV starts, phlebotomy, and venous access, with emphasis on oncology treatments and side-effect management.

Collaboration with physicians and care teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Current Nebraska RN license required.
• Oncology experience preferred.
• Oncology certification required/obtainable.
• BSN preferred.
• Strong communication and critical-thinking skills.
• Ability to adapt to changing needs and work effectively as part of a team.
• Commitment to providing compassionate, safe care for patients undergoing cancer treatments.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and patient confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care across various Specialty Clinics and outpatient services.
• Care for oncology patients receiving chemotherapy, blood products, infusions, and supportive treatments.
• Perform patient assessments, medication administration, IV starts, phlebotomy, and venous access care.
• Monitor patients, manage treatment side effects, and provide pain-control support.
• Educate patients and families about treatments, medications, and ongoing care.
• Assist providers with procedures, referrals, scheduling, and patient communications.
• Maintain accurate and complete documentation in the EMR.
• Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
