Job summary

Healthy Living Market and Café in New York is seeking a Specialty Associate to keep the Beer, Wine, Cheese, Bread, and Housewares departments well stocked and neatly merchandised. You will rotate inventory, cut cheese, weigh and label prepared products, and maintain the Olive Bar display.

You will also deliver knowledgeable, friendly service to guests, helping with selections and questions throughout the shopping experience. Schedule includes Full-Time & Part-Time with open weekends.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of customer service experience in retail or specialty foods.
• At least 1 year experience with international and domestic wine/beer, cheese cutting & wrapping.

Responsibilities

• Keep Beer/Wine, Cheese/Bread and Housewares departments stocked, organized, and merchandised.
• Provide knowledgeable, friendly service to guests and assist with product selection.
• Cut cheese to specification, weigh/label it for sale, and maintain clean displays.
• Open and close departments per procedures and stay current on products.

Specialty Associate

Specialty Associates are responsible for keeping the Beer, Wine, Cheese, Bread, and Housewares departments well stocked, organized, and properly merchandised. Specialty Associates maintain product quality by rotating inventory and removing outdated items. Responsibilities include cutting cheese to specification, weighing and accurately labelling prepared products, keeping the Olive Bar clean, fresh and replenished throughout the day, and maintaining clean, organized displays.

Specialty Associates provide knowledgeable, friendly service to guests, helping with product selection and answering questions throughout the shopping experience.

Schedule: Full-Time & Part-Time / Required availability: open & weekend availability

Pay: We Value Experience - Our starting pay ranges from $16.00-$18.75/hour, with higher starting pay for candidates who bring relevant experience.

Requirements

Experience

• At least 1 year of customer service related experience; preferably in a retail or specialty foods environment


• At least 1 year experience working with both international and domestic wine and beer, cheese cutting & wrapping, or equivalent related experience

Key Responsibilities

• Keeps the Beer/Wine, Cheese/Bread, and Housewares departments properly stocked, including appropriate stock levels and organized case stacks, while keeping the departments clean and presentable.


• Keeps the Departments stocked, organized, and properly merchandised, with attention to product presentation and accurate signage.


• Maintains the Olive Bar by keeping it fresh, clean, well stocked, and attractively presented throughout the day.


• Merchandises the departments effectively, maintaining attractive and easy-to-shop displays.


• Provides knowledgeable and superior hospitality to guests during the selection process.


• Cuts cheese to specification and correctly weighs and labels it for sale.


• Maintains fresh, high-quality product throughout the departments and removes products upon expiration.


• Properly opens and closes the departments according to established procedures.


• Stays up-to-date on products throughout the departments by researching and tasting unfamiliar products and brands.


• Follows department standards, procedures, and protocols.


• Attends all required meetings, trainings, seminars, and workshops.


• Stays passionate, educated, and informed about new products, industry trends, and developments across the Specialty departments.
