Job summary

Airgas is seeking a Welding Process Specialist for Colorado, based in the Denver Metro area. This role represents One Airgas to local and national customers, explaining how Airgas matches customer needs with welding products, processes and services.

You will drive Welding Efficiency Analysis, support Engineered Cost Reduction and provide application training. Overnight travel of 30–40% is required, with a comprehensive benefits package and incentive opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology relevant to welding
  • At least ten years welding industry experience
  • Experience with SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, SAW, OFC and PAC
  • Thorough understanding of welding processes and equipment used in metal fabrication
  • Experience with manual welding, mechanized equipment and welding automation
  • Understand electricity, electronics, and power distribution - preferred
  • Ohm’s law understanding in electrical applications - preferred
  • Certifications: CWI, CWS, CWE, NCCER Instructor, ASNT ACCP Levels I-III, CWEng
  • Valid state driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Represent Airgas to prospects and customers, matching needs with products and services
  • Increase sales and loyalty through welding efficiency analysis and cost reduction
  • Provide training on shielding gases, weld products and services
  • Support sales reps with customer calls and product/application training
  • Prepare reports and manage expenses
  • Schedule time and projects with minimal supervision
  • Maintain safety and industry knowledge
  • Perform welding processes at customer locations and handle physical dexterity tasks
  • Travel overnight about 30-40% of the time

  • Increases sales and customer loyalty through Welding Efficiency Analysis, Engineered Cost Reduction, and practical application of Advanced Technical Processes and Equipment.

  • Provide information and training concerning Airgas Shielding Gasses, weld products and services and explains each product and service.

  • Shall be a resource for all sales representatives in developing and maintaining Core business for the region. Assist with customer sales calls and provide product and application training. Answers customer inquiries and satisfactorily resolves customer complaints.

  • Have strong working knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint to prepare professional presentations for CEO’s, Engineers and Managers of large corporations. Must also be able to relate to shop personnel in a non-intimidating way, able to win their confidence and trust.

  • Prepares required reports and keeps expense accounts.

  • Ability to schedule time and projects without constant direct supervision. The need to be flexible when working with associates and customers schedules.

  • Must have excellent mechanical and scientific reasoning ability.

  • Able to perform welding processes at customer location. Must be physically fit and able to lift, climb, and have physical dexterity.

  • Keeps current with industry technical knowledge.

  • Works safely and meets the requirements of all safety procedures and rules as prescribed by Customers, State, Federal, and the Company.

  • Overnight travel about 30-40% of the time.

Pay range:$120K - $125Kbase pay annually (plus bonus) DOE. Also a $600 per month auto allowance.

Incentive pay:This position is eligible for incentive compensation in the following program: annual bonus

Are you a MATCH?

Required Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in Engineering or Engineering Technology (Welding, Manufacturing, Automation, Fabrication, Mechanical, Electrical, etc.)

  • At least ten years welding industry experience.

  • Experienced in SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, SAW, OFC and PAC

  • Thorough understanding of most welding processes and welding equipment used in metal fabrication shops, fabrication procedures, and practices.

  • Experienced with manual welding techniques, mechanized equipment, fixed and Flexible welding automation, and CNC cutting systems highly preferred.

  • Solid understanding of electricity, electronics, control systems, and power distribution - preferred.

  • Thorough understanding of Ohm’s law in electrical applications - preferred.

  • One or more of the following six Certifications - CWI (Certified Welding Inspector), o CWS (Certified Welding Supervisor) o CWE (Certified Welding Educator) o NCCER Instructor, Core & Welding (National Center for Construction Education and Research) o ASNT ACCP Level I, II or III, o CWEng (Certified Welding Engineer)

  • Valid State Drivers license

Preferred Qualifications:

  • TQM, Lean, or Six Sigma background - preferred

  • OSHA 10 Hour or OSHA 30 Hour card - preferred

  • TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification) card - preferred

  • CWSR (Certified Welding Sales Representative) - preferred

  • Membership within organizations such as AWS, ASM, ASNT, ASQ, ASME and SME - preferred

  • Bi-lingual - preferred
