Job summary

L3Harris Technologies seeks a Specialist, Trade Compliance to join its Salt Lake City or San Diego team. You will guide imports/exports under ITAR/EAR, align with Sales and Program Management, and maintain license records to support global growth.

The role requires a strong regulatory background and the ability to collaborate across functions while ensuring stricter control of export processes. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree with 4 years prior experience, 2 year post-secondary/AA Degree and 8 years prior experience or Graduate Degree with 2 years of prior related experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Execute divisional compliance policies (visitor processing, foreign travel, screening) per US trade regulations (ITAR/EAR).
  • Provide compliance guidance to the business population.
  • Authorize license and agreement applications.
  • Manage license recordkeeping requirements with State/Commerce Departments.
  • Review department export authorizations for accuracy and adherence to policies.
  • Implement and adhere to Corporate Trade policies.
  • Review applicability of Exemptions/Exceptions for the department.
  • Stay updated on current USG authorization policies and requirements.

Job Description

The L3Harris Trade Compliance department is an important piece of the international business segment. As a part of the team, candidates will be consistently working with L3Harris Sales and Program Management personnel to provide guidance related to the imports and exports of U.S. State Department and U.S. Commerce Department controlled goods. Candidates must be able to work effectively with a cross-functional team to effectively keep L3Harris in compliance with the regulations while also helping to foster international growth within the business. Professional with prior knowledge of ITAR and EAR regulations and broad knowledge of project management. Manages projects or processes with no oversight. Communicates within and outside of own function to gain cooperation on operational processes, practices, and procedures. Contributes to achievement of departmental goals and operating plans with direct impact on the departmental results.

Essential Functions
  • Responsible for the execution of divisional compliance policies (e.g. visitor processing, foreign travel, and restricted parties screening) in accordance with U.S. trade regulations (ITAR and EAR).
  • Provide compliance guidance to the business population.
  • Authorize license and agreement applications.
  • Manage U.S. Department of State and U.S. Department of Commerce license recordkeeping requirements
  • Review department export authorizations for accuracy and adherence to Corporate Trade policies
  • Implement and adhere to Corporate Trade policies
  • Review of the applicability of Exemptions/Exceptions for the department
  • Responsible for the department’s continued understanding of current USG authorization policies and requirements
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree with 4 years prior experience, 2 year post-secondary/AA Degree and 8 years prior experience or Graduate Degree with 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills
  • Prior experience working within the ITAR and EAR regulations
  • The ability to effectively coordinate simultaneous activities, and successfully prioritize multiple tasks with good judgment
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to interface with personnel at all levels, both verbally and in writing.
  • Exhibits a high level of integrity and discretion
  • BA/BS or equivalent experience; preferably in one of the following fields: Business, Political Science, International Studies
  • Adept with utilizing computer software applications, e.g. Adobe, Web-based applications, MS Excel, MS Word.
  • Experience with U.S. trade regulations (ITAR and EAR).
  • The ability to effectively coordinate simultaneous activities, and successfully prioritize multiple tasks with good judgment
  • Willingness to travel if required

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C. area, Denver, or NYC areas is $73,000 - $135,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. L3Harris also offers a variety of benefits, including health and disability insurance, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, EAP, education assistance, parental leave, paid time off, and company-paid holidays. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements.
