Role Description

The Specialist, Systems Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Rochester, NY. This role is responsible for designing, integrating, and maintaining complex systems that support defense and national security programs. Daily activities include performing systems engineering analyses, supporting system architecture and design, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that technical requirements are met. The Specialist will troubleshoot system issues, provide technical support during integration and test, and contribute to system administration tasks to ensure reliable operation. The role also involves preparing technical documentation, participating in design and review meetings, and collaborating with stakeholders to improve system performance and resiliency.

Qualifications
  • Strong systems engineering capabilities, including Systems Engineering and Systems Design skills.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving issues, including Troubleshooting and Technical Support skills.
  • Experience with operational system management, including System Administration skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field; advanced degree or equivalent experience is beneficial.
  • Experience working with complex, mission-critical or defense-related systems is preferred.
  • Ability to interpret requirements, develop documentation, and communicate clearly with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and commitment to quality and security standards.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain any required clearances in accordance with applicable regulations.
Additional Skillset
  • Experience supporting tactical, RF, or mission-critical communication systems
  • Technical proficiency with wideband networking technologies, including but not limited to ANW2C, Wren-TSM, and Wraith, with a capacity to adapt to new and evolving communication systems.
  • Enjoy working with people, developing relationships and sharing knowledge.
  • Experience contributing to technical documentation, training, or customer enablement
  • Interest in emerging technologies and contributing to new product capabilities early in their lifecycle
  • Prior Military or worked in a military environment, demonstrating a deep understanding of military protocols and the ability to navigate complex defense-related environments.
  • Hands on experience with:
  • Network tunneling protocols (e.g. GRE, IPsec, Zero Tear or equivalent)
  • Fielded Applications (e.g., TAK, ICE, Instant Connect)
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, evolving technical environments
  • CCNA Certification not required but highly desirable
