Job summary

Acuity Brands, Inc. is seeking early-career talent for its BUILD Leadership Program. This two-year rotational experience rotates every six months across supply chain disciplines to build business acumen and functional expertise.

The role starts January 11, 2027, in Des Plaines, IL or Conyers, GA, with potential cross-site relocation. Participants are expected to be curious, adaptable, and motivated to grow, demonstrating ownership, collaboration, and a drive to excel in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Packaging Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with data-driven mindset.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Leadership experience influencing change is preferred.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% based on business needs.
• Less than two years of related work experience is preferred.

Job Summary

The Acuity Inc. BUILD program is a two-year rotational experience that develops high-potential early career talent into impactful professionals through hands‑on experience. BUILD participants rotate to a different functional area every six months to build business acumen and skill proficiency. Upon completion of BUILD, participants will have developed broad business understanding, functional expertise, and the professional skills needed to contribute in future career opportunities across Acuity.

BUILD is designed for early-career talent who are curious, adaptable, and motivated to grow through hands‑on experience. Successful participants demonstrate strong learning agility, communication skills, ownership, critical thinking, and a willingness to seek feedback, solve problems, and contribute in a fast‑paced environment.

BUILD participants are expected to take an active role in their development while building the business, professional, and technical skills needed for future career opportunities at Acuity.

This role is based in either Des Plaines, IL or Conyers, GA and starts employment on January 11, 2027. The base location will remain the same, but some rotations may require a temporary relocation to another Acuity site.

BUILD participants also participate in personal growth activities to enhance business acumen, including:

• Specialized onboarding for all participants to ensure integration into the organization and program.
• One‑on‑one mentorship from a Supply Chain leader for the duration of the program (and beyond).
• Social and networking events to forge connections with peers and leaders across the business.
• Frequent opportunities to collaborate with program peers to learn about various business processes and initiatives.
• Leadership report‑out meetings to share rotational learnings and performance reviews to identify strengths and areas for growth.

Key Responsibilities

While business needs determine specific projects, Supply Chain Distribution Specialists rotate within functional areas, combining individual interests with current company objectives to work on projects alongside experienced colleagues and explore areas including:

• Distribution Planning (flexible, on‑site/travel as needed)
• BSF Engineering & Continuous Improvement (on‑site at an Acuity facility)
• Focused Factory (on‑site at an Acuity facility)

Other exposure areas for Supply Chain Distribution Specialists include, but are not limited to:

• Trade Compliance Operations
• Customer Experience
• Advanced Manufacturing Engineering

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Packaging Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field.
• Demonstrated interest in process improvement, continuous improvement, or operational excellence; related coursework, projects, or internship experience is preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to evaluate operational data, identify root causes, and recommend practical improvements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Leadership experience influencing change, people, and processes is highly preferred.
• Collaborative and team‑oriented with a drive to take the initiative is highly preferred.
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required.
• Availability to travel based on business needs (up to 20%) is required.
• Less than two years of related work experience is highly preferred.
