Salary range: The annual salary range for this position is $55,000-$194,800. The hourly rate is $26.35-$93.30. See Specialist Series Salary Scales Table for the range.

Specialist Series

The Department of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Care at the University of California Irvine Health System anticipates openings in the Specialist Series (Junior, Assistant, Associate, and Full Specialist). The ideal candidate should be self-driven and motivated. This is an ongoing recruitment. Rank will be determined by qualifications and experience. Renewal is based on availability of extramural funding.

• Junior Specialists: Appointees should possess a baccalaureate degree (or equivalent) or equivalent research experience.
• Assistant Specialists: Appointees should possess a master’s degree (or equivalent) or five years of experience demonstrating expertise in the relevant specialization.
• Associate Specialists: Appointees should possess a master’s degree (or equivalent) or five to ten years of experience demonstrating expertise in the relevant specialization. Associate Specialists are normally expected to have a record of academic accomplishments, including contributions to published or in-press research and a demonstrated record of University and/or public service.
• Specialist (Full): Appointees should possess a terminal degree (or equivalent) or ten or more years of experience demonstrating expertise in the relevant specialization. Specialists are normally expected to have a significant record of academic accomplishments, including contributions to published or in-press research, professional recognition, and a demonstrated record of University and/or public service.

Basic Qualifications

Candidates must possess a BA/BS, Masters, PhD, or MD/PhD degree by the proposed start date.

Preferred Qualifications

Evidence of specialized research skills and approaches of past research productivity preferred.
