Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, a Bachelor's in safety preferred, 5 years in marine safety/operations, TWIC, and willingness to travel up to 75% domestically. Proficiency with MS Office is a plus.

Enterprise Products Partners L.P. is one of the largest publicly traded partnerships and a leading North American provider of midstream energy services to producers and consumers of natural gas, NGLs, crude oil, refined products and petrochemicals. Our services include: natural gas gathering, treating, processing, transportation and storage; NGL transportation, fractionation, storage and import and export terminals; crude oil gathering, transportation, storage and terminals; petrochemical and refined products transportation, storage and terminals; and a marine transportation business that operates primarily on the United States inland and Intracoastal Waterway systems. The partnership’s assets include approximately 50,000 miles of pipelines; 260 million barrels of storage capacity for NGLs, crude oil, refined products and petrochemicals; and 14 billion cubic feet of natural gas storage capacity.

The Marine Safety Specialist reports to the Marine Safety & Training Supervisor and is responsible for working alongside and in conjunction with a team of Marine Safety Specialists as directed or approved by the Marine Safety & Training Supervisor.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Work closely with personnel and management on all aspects of marine/shipyard safety, environmental, regulatory, and training.
  • Apply, develop, implement, and maintain safety and health programs.
  • Develop, maintain, conduct, and track training for all employees as needed.
  • Assist with management of computer-based training database.
  • Interact with regulatory agencies such as USCG, ABS, and OSHA.
  • Conduct vessel visits, internal TSMS audits and security audits as needed.
  • Attend External TSMS audits and Towing Vessel Surveys with regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Conduct barge TBSIP Inspections as needed.
  • Attend SIRES and customer inspections of vessels as needed.
  • Assist with safety meetings.
  • Assist with employee and contractor orientations as needed.
  • Prepare and distribute safety meetings, drills, daily safety moments, safety alerts, and notices as needed.
  • Assist with distribution and tracking of employee personal protective equipment.
  • Provide safety oversight for projects and day to day work activities as needed.
  • Perform incident investigations as required.
  • Provide safety support to assigned vessel team as required.
The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:

A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required.

A Bachelor's degree in safety or other relevant technical field is preferred.

A minimum of 5 years of marine industry training, safety, or operations experience is preferred.

Internal TSMS Auditor and Root Cause Analyst Incident Investigation Certification is preferred.

A valid Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) is required.

Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record is required.

Knowledgeable of USCG Subchapter M Regulations for Towing Vessels is preferred.

Experience developing technical documentation and/or safety materials related to Marine is preferred.

Ability to prepare presentations and communicate clearly, concisely, persuasively, and confidently with all levels within an organization.

The ability to modify communication style in order to influence, persuade, negotiate, and engage all parties according to the audience and circumstance is required.

The ability to effectively communicate (both verbally and in writing), work, share information, ideas, and resources with other individuals, teams, customers, and stakeholders of the business, at various levels of the organization, in a business- like and professional manner is required.

Must take initiative and be proactive in addressing issues.

The ability to demonstrate conscientiousness, dependability and commitment to the role, team and company is required.

Ability to juggle competing priorities, multi-task and change direction in a variety of workplace situations.

Proficient in the use of a computer and smart phone is required.

Ability to utilize a variety of business/technical software tools to perform responsibilities is required.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) is required,

HELM, Mobile Ops, Oracle software experience is preferred.

Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs.

The ability to walk, access, and ride along on inland towing vessels and barges is required.

Able to travel up to 75%25 domestically is required.

Available to respond to after hour calls and/or emergencies as needed.

Must satisfactorily pass a drug screen and background check.
