Job summary

L3Harris Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Specialist, Quality Engineer in Malabar, FL. You will design and implement quality inspection standards and participate in nonconformance analysis across mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical subsystems to ensure compliance with contracts and regulations.

You will lead PFMEA activities, coordinate with suppliers and internal teams, and drive corrective actions while supporting quality program cost management and customer interfaces.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree with 4+ years of relevant experience; or graduate degree with 2+ years.
• In lieu of a degree, 8+ years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement standards, methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating product quality.
• Analyze nonconformities and discrepancies across assembly, process, mechanical and electrical systems.
• Lead PFMEA, Material Review Board activities and supplier corrective actions.
• Interface with manufacturing, engineering, customers and vendors to ensure requirements are met.
• Manage quality program costs and contribute to continuous improvement activities.

Job Description

Responsible for the design, development and implementation of standards, methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of company products in compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.

Performs analysis on reported nonconformities and discrepancies related to assembly, process, mechanical, electrical, electro-mechanical systems, field and clinical data.

Further investigates the cause for discrepancies and nonconformities to develop disposition and recommends corrective action plans.

Leads material review board and Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) activities.

Interfaces with manufacturing, engineering, customer, vendor and subcontractor representatives to ensure requirements are met.

Conducts program quality cost account management and manages supplier corrective actions.

Serves as the primary interface to customers and supplier for quality related matters.

Essential Functions

• Experienced professional with proficient knowledge of job area and practical knowledge of project management.


• May manage projects or processes with general supervision. Communicate with contacts inside and outside of own department to explain and interpret operational processes, practices, and procedures.


• Recommends enhancements to systems and processes.


• Works to achieve operational targets for specific programs and projects with moderate impact on departmental results.


• Communicates with contacts within and outside of own department and may occasionally have responsibility for communicating with parties external to the organization (e.g., customers, vendors, etc.).


• Explain and interprets processes and procedures to others within and outside the job area.


• May work to justify and gain cooperation regarding processes, practices and procedures.

Qualifications

• Requires proficient knowledge of job area. May have practical knowledge of project management.


• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.


• In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills

• Experience leading RCCA activities from cradle to grave.


• Experience leading and auditing QMS entries.


• Previous MRB Experience preferred


• Experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Zero Defect Plan (ZDP), Statistical Process Control (SPC).


• Lean or Six Sigma certification.


• American Society for Quality (ASQ) certification.
