Job summary

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a highly motivated Program Quality Engineer to ensure product and process quality across lifecycles from development through production. You will act as the primary quality liaison for assigned programs, driving compliance with customer, regulatory, and internal requirements.

Key duties include leading FAI activities, attending design reviews, and managing MRB/CAPA processes. Strong RCCA skills and experience in ISO9001/AS9100 are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field; 4+ years of related experience (or graduate degree with 2+ years; or 8+ years if no degree).
  • 2+ years in ISO9001/AS9100 environment or equivalent.
  • Experience in Space and Defense Industry.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the quality representative for assigned programs.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain to meet quality requirements.
  • Attend design reviews as quality representative; lead MRB and FAI activities.
  • Interpret contracts and requirements to develop Program Quality Plans.
  • Lead First Article Inspection (AS9102) activities.
  • Review and approve engineering docs for quality compliance.
  • Perform RCCA using 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone diagrams.
  • Support internal and external audits (AS9100, customer audits).
  • Track quality metrics and FRACAS; drive continuous improvement.
  • Interface with regulatory bodies on quality issues.
  • Deliver Quality messages in Gemba floor meetings.

Job Description:

L3Harris is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Program Quality Engineer. This role is responsible for ensuring the quality of products and processes across the lifecycle of a program – from development through production and delivery. The PQE will serve as the primary quality liaison for assigned programs, driving compliance with customer, regulatory and internal requirements.

Essential Functions:
  • Serve as the quality representative for assigned programs
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to ensure quality requirements are met throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Attend engineering design reviews as quality representative
  • Chair Material Review Board and Failure Review Board activities for assigned programs.
  • Interpret customer contracts, specifications, statements of work, and regulatory requirements to develop Program Quality Plans.
  • Lead First Article Inspection (FAI) activities in accordance with AS9102.
  • Review and approve engineering documentation including drawings, work instructions, and test plans for quality compliance.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and corrective/preventative action (RCCA/CAPA) using tools such as 8D, 5-why, or Fishbone diagrams.
  • Support internal and external audits, including AS9100, and customer audits.
  • Track and report quality metrics and FRACAS reporting. (nonconformances trends, escape trends etc.).
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in support of program and organizational goals.
  • Interface with regulatory bodies regarding quality issues and resolutions as required.
  • Participate in Operations Department Gemba floor meetings and verbally deliver relevant Quality messages to the team.
  • Provide support for other quality program functions as required
  • Ablility to obtain a DoD US Secret Security clearance
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field with a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate degree and a minimum of two years prior relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of eight years of prior relevant experience.
  • 2+ years of experience working in an ISO9001/AS9100 environment or equivalent
  • Experience in the Space and Defense Industry
Preferred Additional Skills:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline
  • ASQ certification (CQT, CQI, CQE, CMQ/OE) or demonstrated application of these principles on programs.
  • Experience working with IPC-J-STD-001 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 a plus
  • Experience working with the QMS functions within SAP
  • Proficiency in MS Office software (Excel/Outlook/Word/PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Strong knowledge of aerospace standards (AS9100, AS9145, AS9102).
  • Experienced in the MRB Process and working in a Manufacturing environment.
  • Self-starter with the ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment while maintaining professional Quality separation
  • Knowledge of RCCA processes and methodology

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New Jersey is $84,000- $156,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. L3Harris also offers a variety of benefits, including health and disability insurance, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, EAP, education assistance, parental leave, paid time off, and company‑paid holidays. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements.
