L3Harris Technologies in Greenville, TX, is seeking a Specialist, Mechanical Design Engineer to contribute to aircraft structures, mission equipment, and mechanical systems installations. You will design detail parts and assemblies using 3D CAD tools and collaborate across engineering, production, and tooling to meet requirements.

Ideal candidates hold a mechanical design degree with aerospace experience or equivalent years, and can obtain a DoD secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 4 years of aerospace mechanical design experience.
• Graduate degree with 2 years of aerospace mechanical design experience.
• In lieu of a degree, minimum 8 years of aerospace mechanical design experience.
• Minimum 2 years CAD skills (NX/Unigraphics preferred, ProE, Catia).

Responsibilities

• Research and develop layouts; prepare engineering drawings; coordinate with tooling, flight sciences, manufacturing.
• Design using 3D CAD tools; work with senior engineers on various aircraft systems.
• Walk to flight line, work in hangar, board/exit aircraft as required.
• Travel as needed; maintain security clearance suitability.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; strong computer skills and MS Office.
• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Job Description

The Mechanical Design Engineer Specialist is responsible for participating in the design of detail parts, assemblies, and installations for aircraft structures, mission equipment installations, and mechanical systems installations. Engineer applies basic engineering design and/or analytical theory with understanding of structural analysis for application to integrated system design.

Essential Functions

• Responsible for research, development of layouts, preparation of engineering drawings, and coordination of design activities with Tooling, Flight Sciences, Manufacturing, and Production to ensure that designs meet requirements at minimum cost.
• Designs will be accomplished using world-class, three-dimensional solid modeling CAD tools and work will be accomplished with senior-level design engineers.
• Can work on a wide variety of tasks and aircraft systems on various aircraft platforms.
• Ability to walk to and from the flight line, work in aircraft hangar environment and board/exit aircraft is required.
• Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong computer skills and MS Office.
• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
