Job summary

L3Harris is seeking a Specialist, Manufacturing Quality Engineer in Canoga Park, CA to provide program quality support across the lifecycle, from design through supplier support. The role emphasizes Six Sigma, Lean, and CAPA-like activities to maintain compliance and drive improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant quality experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related quality experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related quality experience.
• Active participation in Six Sigma and Lean initiatives to improve processes and reduce cost.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and problem-solving abilities; ability to meet commitments.

Responsibilities

• Ensure customer requirement flow-down and hardware is compliant to specifications; handle deviations and communicate at all levels.
• Participate in improvement teams using six sigma tools; apply Lean manufacturing to improve processes.
• Drive corrective and preventive actions with in-house and supplier; support CAPA board for timely closure.
• Interpret drawings and specifications; participate in design reviews to identify inspectability and producibility issues; flow down quality requirements to suppliers.
• Participate in Material Review Board and manage nonconforming hardware and dispositions.

Job Description:

L3Harris is seeking a Specialist, Quality Engineer to join our team in Canoga Park, CA. This individual will provide program Quality Engineering support for assigned contracted programs spanning the lifecycle of the program including design, development, production, test and supplier support.

Essential Functions:

• Utilizes engineering background and expertise to ensure customer requirement flow-down and hardware is compliant to specifications. Handles and communicates deviations/non-conformances at different levels within the organization and at customer level as applicable. Prepares comprehensive analyses, procedures, reports and presentations for both internal and external customers.
• Actively participates in improvement teams to reduce risk through the application of six sigma tools. Applies zero defects quality principles, concepts and methods, including Lean Manufacturing to continuously improve processes, reduce cost and ensure the quality of our products and services.
• Drives corrective and preventative action activity both in-house and at the Supplier, and provides corrective action board support to manage timely and effective problem closure and recurrence control.
• Interprets engineering drawings and specifications, customer quality requirements and company quality requirements to ensure compliance with the customer's requirements. Participates in design reviews to identify and correct inspectability and producibility issues and opportunities early in the product life cycle. Provides a clear and concise flow down of product definition and Quality requirements to Suppliers.
• Actively participates in the Material Review Board, including segregation and control of nonconforming hardware to preclude inadvertent processing, disposition nonconforming hardware, preparing for and conducting board meetings, and implementing disposition decisions.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant quality experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related quality experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related quality experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

• Advanced degree in a related field.
• CQE and/or CSSBB.
• APQP and or Zero Defect Planning Experience.
• MDA experience.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to analyze, evaluate and develop solutions to a variety of situations.
• Must consistently meet commitments.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California is $84,000 - $156,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
