Job summary

L3Harris Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Specialist, Manufacturing Engineer at the Stennis Space Center in MS.

You will create and release precise work instructions, read engineering drawings, and support assembly and testing of high-precision hardware for space programs. This role emphasizes collaboration with Quality, Engineering, and Safety teams, implementing Kaizen improvements and feedback to design centers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar required.
• 4+ years of related experience; Graduate Degree or equivalent with 2 years.
• In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of related experience.

• Recommends improvements to systems and processes.
• Supports the achievement of operational goals for specific programs and projects.
• Works under general supervision.
• Communicates with internal and external contacts to explain and interpret operational processes, practices, and procedures.
• Provides manufacturability and assembly feedback to the design center.
• Supports continuous improvement (Kaizen) projects.
• Reads and interprets engineering drawings and specification requirements to develop process plans that produce compliant hardware.
• Assists with product and tooling drawing design reviews.
• Provides technical guidance and training to shop floor personnel, design teams, and management.

Education

Job Description:

Responsible for creating and releasing complete, accurate work instructions.Applies troubleshooting skills, including return-to-drawing methodology, and has experience assembling and disassembling hardware with tight or interference-fit tolerances. Supports RS25 engine manufacturing, assembly, and testing.

Preferred Additional Skills:

• Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience working with all levels of manufacturing staff.
• Experience using Microsoft Access, Excel, Powerpoint and Word as well as PTC ‘Windchill’, Dassault ‘Delmia’ and/or Maestro software products
• Experience with deploying electronic work instructions and/or Bill of Materials (BOM)s
• Previous role in manufacturing, front-loading product definition, and technical work instruction development to comply with product and process definitions.
• Proficiency in machining, geometric design and tolerancing, and assembly processes.
