Job Description:

The Specialist, Engineering Operations supports business analytics, reporting, and operational execution for the Engineering department and MMG programs. In this role you will partner with engineering leaders, program teams, and operations stakeholders to develop actionable metrics, improve business processes, and drive consistency across reporting, planning, and continuous improvement activities. The position requires a self-directed professional who can translate complex data into decision-ready insights in a fast-paced defense and aerospace environment.

Essential Functions:
  • Lead the collection, validation, and organization of data to support department metrics and recurring reporting.
  • Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports for Engineering and program stakeholders.
  • Translate raw data into meaningful charts, summaries, and visualizations for internal stakeholders and leadership.
  • Track Engineering department metrics such as manpower, performance, capacity, and project status.
  • Lead or support e3 Continuous Improvement projects by gathering data, documenting processes, and tracking action items to closure.
  • Identify inefficiencies in business processes and recommend practical improvement opportunities.
  • Document root cause and corrective action (RCCA) findings and support implementation of corrective actions.
  • Support Earned Value Management (EVM) data collection, analysis, and reporting for Engineering programs.
  • Coordinate department activities such as training tracking, recruiting support, and policy documentation.
  • Prepare materials, insights, and status updates for leadership reviews and presentations.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Program Management, Finance, and Scheduling teams to support ongoing initiatives.
  • Facilitate team discussions, follow up on action items, and communicate status to stakeholders.
  • Maintain project tracking tools such as Atlassian Jira and help standardize reporting practices.
  • Ability to synthesize complex data into actionable recommendations for leadership.
  • Working knowledge of Power BI and advanced Excel for reporting automation and dashboard development.
  • Understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM), manpower forecasting, and engineering resource planning.
  • Experience driving continuous improvement efforts and documenting RCCA outcomes.
  • Strong stakeholder management, written communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to prioritize independently and provide guidance across cross-functional efforts.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret security clearance.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree with four (4) years of experience in engineering operations, business analytics, program support, or a similar role. Graduate degree with two (2) years of experience in engineering operations, business analytics, program support, or a similar role. In Lieu of a degree, minimum of eight (8) years of experience in engineering operations, business analytics, program support, or a similar role.
Preferred Additional Skills:
  • Experience supporting defense, aerospace, or other highly regulated technical environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Business analytics, KPI development, and data storytelling.
  • Power BI required; familiarity with Tableau, SQL, or similar analytics tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to brief leadership.
  • Work independently and collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work with minimal supervision.
