Job summary

Chevron Corporation is seeking an environmental resources specialist for North Dakota Upstream and Midstream operations. You will serve as a key resource, guiding practical environmental compliance across the asset life cycle, working with field and office teams, and building relationships with regulators.

The role demands independence, multi-project management, and strong stakeholder collaboration across Operations, Wells, and project teams, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in environmental science, engineering, geology, natural resources, or related discipline.
• Experience with spill reporting and remediation oversight, waste management programs, environmental inspections and audits.
• Familiarity with environmental data management, recordkeeping, and reporting systems.
• Experience supporting field operations in a regulated industrial environment, preferably oil and gas.

Responsibilities

• Provide field and technical support for environmental incidents, including response, reporting, documentation, corrective actions and closeout.
• Advise on waste management activities, including characterization, facility/vendor oversight, inspections, and recordkeeping.
• Interpret federal, state, and local requirements and translate into practical guidance for operations and project teams.
• Conduct field assurance and compliance reviews, identify gaps, communicate findings, and support timely corrective actions.
• Review changes and projects for environmental applicability and required safeguards; maintain organized records and reporting.
• Manage contractors and coordinate multiple projects while balancing business and regulatory needs.
• Identify opportunities to improve environmental processes, tools, and reporting; provide SME-level coaching and support.
• Support regulatory agency interactions, inspections, audits, and information requests.

Job description

This position serves as a key environmental resource for field and office-based teams, providing practical compliance guidance across the asset life cycle. The successful candidate will work independently, manage multiple priorities, and build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors, and regulatory agencies.

Provides environmental compliance support for North Dakota Upstream and Midstream operations. Partners with Operations, Wells, project teams, contractors, and other stakeholders to maintain regulatory compliance, manage environmental risk, and support the safe and responsible execution of Chevron activities.

Key responsibilities include environmental incident management, spill response and remediation oversight, waste management advisement, field assurance activities, regulatory agency engagement, and driving continuous improvement of environmental programs and work processes.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to: Provide field and technical support for environmental incidents, including response, reporting, documentation, corrective actions, remediation oversight, and closeout. Advise on waste management activities, including waste characterization, approved facility and vendor oversight, inspections, manifests, recordkeeping, and compliance assurance. Interpret federal, state, and local environmental requirements and translate them into practical guidance for Operations, Wells, and project teams. Conduct field assurance and compliance reviews, identify gaps, communicate findings, and support timely corrective actions. Review operational changes, projects, and work plans for environmental applicability, regulatory obligations, and required safeguards. Maintain accurate and organized environmental records, reports, inspection documentation, and supporting data. Manage contractors and coordinate multiple projects and activities while balancing business objectives and regulatory requirements. Identify opportunities to improve, standardize, and simplify environmental processes, procedures, tools, and reporting methods. Provide technical coaching and SME-level support to strengthen environmental capability and compliance performance across the organization. Support regulatory agency interactions and assist with inspections, audits, information requests, and compliance reporting.

Approximately 25% field travel may be required based on business needs.

Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, geology, natural resources, or a related discipline. Experience with spill reporting and remediation oversight, waste management programs, environmental inspections, audits, and compliance assurance activities. Familiarity with environmental data management, recordkeeping, and reporting systems. Experience supporting field operations in a regulated industrial environment, preferably within the oil and gas industry.
