Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental health & safety, occupational safety, environmental science, engineering, industrial hygiene, chemistry, or related technical discipline.
  • 1-3 years of EHS experience within pharmaceutical/regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Experience supporting cGMP operations preferred.
  • Aseptic manufacturing, fill-finish operations, or sterile pharmaceutical production experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support OSHA, EPA, DOT, DEA, and applicable regulations.
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining EHS programs (LOTO, Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, Confined Space, PIT, Machine Guarding, Hearing Conservation, Contractor Safety, Ergonomics, Emergency Response).
  • Partner with Manufacturing and Quality teams to integrate EHS requirements into aseptic operations.
  • Conduct investigations of safety incidents and near misses; perform root cause analysis and CAPA.
  • Coordinate Emergency Response Program activities and training; support drills and planning.

The Specialist, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) supports EHS compliance, training administration, incident investigations, emergency preparedness, and safety programs within a cGMP-regulated aseptic pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. The role partners with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, promote safe work practices, support audits and inspections, and drive continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen site safety performance and foster a proactive safety culture.

Responsibilities:

  • Support compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, DEA, and applicable state and local regulations.
  • Supports the implementation and maintenance of EHS programs including:
  • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
  • Hazard Communication
  • Respiratory Protection
  • Confined Space
  • Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT)
  • Machine Guarding
  • Hearing Conservation
  • Contractor Safety
  • Ergonomics
  • Emergency Response

Aseptic Manufacturing Support

  • Partner with Manufacturing and Quality teams to ensure EHS requirements are integrated into aseptic operations.

Incident Investigation & Risk Management

  • Conduct investigations of safety incidents, near misses, environmental events, and hazardous conditions.
  • Perform root cause analysis and support development of effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Track and trend incident data using EHS management systems.

Emergency Response & Business Continuity

  • Assist in management of the Emergency Response Program.
  • Coordinate drills, exercises, and emergency preparedness activities.
  • Support fire protection programs and response planning.
  • Participate on the Emergency Response Team (ERT) as required.

Training & Safety Culture

  • Coordinate EHS training with the different stakeholders
  • Serve as the EHS Training administrator.
  • Manage all training records (Track in LMS).
  • Deploy training on LMS.
  • Generate training reports.
  • Deliver EHS training programs for contractors, and visitors.
  • Conduct new hire safety orientation and periodic refresher training.
  • Drive safety awareness campaigns and behavioral safety initiatives.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and employee engagement in safety.

Contractor & Vendor Management

  • Support the contractor safety program.

Inspections & Audits

  • Conduct routine facility inspections to identify hazards and compliance gaps.
  • Lead corrective action follow-up activities.
  • Support FDA, customer, and corporate audits as the EHS representative.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental health & safety, occupational safety, environmental science, engineering, industrial hygiene, chemistry, or related technical discipline.

  • 1 - 3 years of EHS experience within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or other regulated manufacturing environments.

  • Experience supporting cGMP operations preferred.

  • Experience in aseptic manufacturing, fill-finish operations, or sterile pharmaceutical production strongly preferred.

Technical Knowledge

  • Incident investigation and root cause analysis methodologies.
  • cGMP requirements and pharmaceutical manufacturing environments.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in production, laboratory, warehouse, maintenance, and utility areas.
  • Ability to wear required PPE to enter classified cleanroom environments.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, and occasionally lift to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations across the facility.

Our Compensation and Benefits

At Ferring,basesalary is one part of our competitive total compensation and benefits package and isdeterminedusing a salary range. The base salary range for this role is $75,000 to $83,000, which is the reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount paid may differ based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities,educationand primary work location. Additional compensation for this role will be provided based on competitive annual incentive compensation targets in the form of an annual bonus - payouts are based on individual and company performance.

Benefits for this role include comprehensive healthcare (medical, dental, and vision) with a premium differential, inverse to base salary, to be paid by employees, a 401k plan and company match, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, wellness benefits, reimbursement for certain tuition expenses, sick time of 1 hour per 30 hours worked, vacation time for full time employees to accrue up to120 hoursin the first four (4) years of employment, and160 hoursin the fifth (5th) year of employment as well as15paid holidays per year.We are proud to offer paid parental leave subject to a minimum period of employment at Ferring.
