Job summary

Versiti Blood Center of Indiana is hiring a Donor Box Truck Specialist to perform phlebotomy, donor screening, and safe transport of staff and equipment. You will deliver a high-quality donor experience, work as part of a collaborative team, and promote a positive workplace culture.

The role requires operating a box truck, strong attention to detail, and flexible hours including evenings and weekends. Relevant licenses and phlebotomy experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; phlebotomy-related experience preferred.
• Must meet DOT guidelines and be able to operate a box truck safely.
• Excellent donor/customer service and communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Follows DOT guidelines when operating a full-size commercial van/box truck and transports staff and equipment.
• Prepares collection site and performs setup, including technology systems.
• Performs donor screening, mini-physical, and phlebotomy.
• Provides a positive donor experience with professional, empathetic service.
• Recruits and converts donors for automation when applicable.

Position Summary

Under direct supervision by department leadership, performs phlebotomy collection of whole blood and apheresis products. Interacts with donors and coordinators, providing a high level of customer service to deliver an excellent donation experience. Takes pride in and is committed to delivering high quality services. Works cooperatively and is a supportive member of the team/group. Contributes positively to the achievement of team objectives. Responsible for operating the mobile drive vehicle and transporting the mobile staff in a safe and efficient manner. In addition to these responsibilities, the Specialist, Donor Box Truck Driver plays an essential role in promoting and maintaining a collaborative and respectful team culture and contributes to a strong and engaging employee experience. The individual models teamwork, effective communication, and professionalism and fosters an environment where donors and colleagues feel safe, valued, and respected.

The target salary is based on internal averages. Versiti sets salary ranges aligned to local markets in which the job is performed. Compensation decisions take into account internal salary averages and differentiation based on education, experience, skills, and performance. Responsibilities

• Follows all DOT guidelines when operating full-size commercial van/Promaster/box truck, and safely transports staff, supplies, and equipment.
• Prepares collection site and performs set up, including technology systems (may include quality control).
• Performs donor screening (collects donor histories), mini-physical, and phlebotomy.
• Treats donors with customer service excellence, presenting a positive image. Responds to customer inquiries, requests, and complaints with a timely and complete response and escalates to leader when appropriate. PRovides a service-centric donor experience by interacting with donors respectfully, compassionately, and professionally.
• May conduct automation (Alyx and/or Trima), including recognizing and responding to automation reactions. Recruits and converts donors for automation.
• Contributes to and upholds a positive team culture and employee experience by fostering teamwork, collaborating effectively, maintaining an encouraging environment, and by supporting coworkers through kind and respectful behaviors.
• Maintains product integrity and ensures proper identification of all donors, performs routine maintenance on equipment, and completes department records as needed. May prepare/pack units for transport.
• Observes donors for reactions, provides reaction care and assists other staff in handling reactions if needed.
• Rebooks donors for future donation appointments.
• May be subject to additional background checks as required by sponsor.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification

Licenses and Certifications

• DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State Valid drivers' license with prior driving experience required
