Job summary

Prudential Financial, Inc. is seeking a Data Security Specialist within the Cyber Defense & Response team to support QA of data security controls and risk remediation across cloud and on-premise environments.

The role collaborates with platform owners, product teams, and stakeholders to monitor controls, prepare dashboards, and stay ahead of emerging threats while expanding technical expertise in enterprise data security technologies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in CS/Engineering/Cybersecurity.
  • Foundational cybersecurity knowledge and data security principles.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new tech.
  • Familiarity with cloud and on-premises security technologies.
  • Understanding of security controls, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with audits, documentation, or security assessments is a plus.

Specialist, Data Security - Cyber Defense & Response (Finance)

Our Cyber Defense and Response team is committed to building a strong data security program through collaboration, continuous improvement, and proactive risk management. As a Data Security Specialist, you will support the Data Security Lead in executing quality control activities, monitoring security controls, and helping improve the organization's overall data security posture while growing your technical expertise.

Your Team & Role

As a Data Security Specialist, you will report to the Data Security Lead and work closely with platform owners, product teams, and business stakeholders to support the implementation and quality assurance of data security controls. You will assist with control assessments, documentation, reporting, and remediation tracking while developing expertise in enterprise data security technologies and governance practices.

Here is What You Can Expect on a Typical Day
  • Support quality control assessments of data security controls across cloud and on-premises platforms.
  • Assist in validating the effectiveness of technical controls protecting sensitive data.
  • Help identify control gaps and track remediation activities.

The Skills & Expertise You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Foundational knowledge of cybersecurity and data security principles.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies and business priorities.
  • Familiarity with cloud and on-premises security technologies.
  • Understanding of security controls, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Exposure to technologies such as Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB), and Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) is preferred.
  • Experience supporting audits, documentation, or security assessments is a plus.
Preferred Certifications
  • GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC)
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) (or pursuing)
  • Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals
  • AWS Certified Security - Specialty

Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $96,200.00 to $158,800.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills.
