SWC District is seeking a Procurement and Commodities Manager for School Way Café to oversee district-wide food and supplies purchasing, inventory control, and compliance with USDA regulations. You will train and support the team, coordinate with cafeteria managers, warehouse staff and vendors, approve orders, monitor market prices and generate reports.

The role requires on-call availability for emergencies and after-hours support.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; college degree preferred.
  • Five years of managerial experience in School Food and Nutrition Services or related field.
  • K-12 Food and Nutrition Services experience preferred.
  • K-12 Procurement experience preferred.
  • ServSafe Essentials certificate or equivalent food safety certification.
  • Must be available after work hours for emergencies.
  • Must have Florida Driver’s License or obtain one within 30 days of employment.

Job Description

POSITION GOAL

Manage school-based procurement to provide safe, efficient and professional services for VCS students through operational efficiencies and program compliance; and to provide responsive support to cafeteria managers, the SWC District Team and district related offices

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the SWC Procurement and Commodities Manager with training, development and support for continuous improvement of team performance.
  • Assist in the commodity and food and supplies purchasing areas.
  • Communicates with managers, district warehouse, vendors and USDA to maintain accurate inventory and records in compliance with USDA regulations.
  • Manages district warehouse and off-site warehouse(s) inventory levels to ensure appropriate amounts of food are maintained.
  • Manages the process to ensure the integrity of the databases for the Back of the House portion of accountability software which includes food related data such as, case counts, pack size, portion size used in secondary and elementary schools, and all other product information applicable to ordering and inventory.
  • Responsible for ensuring the integrity of warehouse inventory and asset management records and providing requested documentation for the USDA audit.
  • Maintains accurate inventory counts in the Back of the House portion of the accountability software, based on counts provided by warehouse personnel.
  • Ensure SWC managers comply with procurement related regulations and VCS management directives, and all procedures related to ordering and inventory.
  • Act as a liaison between site-based cafeteria managers, warehouse personnel and outside vendors.
  • Responsible for approving orders placed by SWC managers.
  • Monitors market price changes and communicates changes to SWC managers.
  • Responsible for providing requested reports and information to district warehouse personnel as requested.
  • Work as a member of a team to ensure that standards of performance are maintained, the program objectives are achieved, and department and district goals are met.
  • Responsible for keeping up to date on current technology being used by VCS. With the support of the district, attends training to ensure skill level in various technologies is at the level required to perform in current position.
  • Respond during times of disaster/ emergency, as the need arises and according to SWC procedures, including evenings and weekends.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director, School Way Café and the Manager, Procurement and Commodities, School Way Café.

Required Qualifications/Certifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma required; college degree preferred.
  • Five (5) years of managerial experience in School Food and Nutrition Services, Institutional Food Management Services such as a hospital, restaurant, theme park, or other approved company or related field.
  • K-12 Food and Nutrition Services experience; preferred.
  • K-12 Procurement experience; preferred.
  • Hold a valid ServSafe Essentials certificate or equivalent food safety certification.
  • Must be available after work hours (on-call) as a part of the emergency and disaster team as assigned.
  • Possess a valid Florida Driver’s License; if a holder of any other valid US state-issued Driver’s License, agree to acquire a Florida Driver’s License within thirty (30) days of employment, except in a case where accommodation is required
  • Must be able to operate school board vehicles, when required, in accordance with operational procedures and School Board Policy 505

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Proficiency in office/computer programs and applications including Microsoft Word and EXCEL with the ability to maintain a filing system for accurate rapid retrieval of data
  • Ability to prepare and maintain accurate reports in a timely manner

$48,015 to $55,103.00
