Job summary

Alliant Energy in Wisconsin seeks a Power Plant Assistant to support turbine, boiler and coal handling equipment. You will perform rounds, take readings and operate ash/slag handling systems in a 12-hour rotating shift, with day and night coverage. Responsibilities include maintenance tasks, lubrication, and ensuring safe, efficient plant operation.

Required are a High School Diploma or GED and the ability to work well with others, with preferred experience in a power plant environment.

Responsibilities

• Keeps turbine, boiler and coal handling equipment neat, clean and operating properly.

• Assures major and minor auxiliary equipment are operating properly.
• Operates ash and slag handling equipment.
• Performs tests, takes readings and records data.
• Starts up, shuts down and cares for all turbine and boiler auxiliaries.
• Performs maintenance work of ordinary nature when not operating.

Making rounds on equipment and accept direction from supervisor/lead.You'll work a 12-hour rotating schedule, with day shifts from 6:00am to 6:00pm and night shifts from 6:00pm to 6:00am. Relief hours may be required for vacation coverage, vacancies, and service needs.
