Job summary

Certarus is seeking a Special Projects Technician to implement and execute various Special Projects Operations across the US, traveling for extended periods as needed. The role requires cross-training local personnel in CNG, RNG, and H2, with safety and efficiency of all equipment as a top priority.

The position reports to the Senior Manager - Special Projects and can be based near Certarus hubs in the US. Extensive travel is expected, with shifts often 21-7 or 14-4 as business needs arise.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of applicable oil & gas experience, midstream or industrial experience.
• Relevant gas compression experience is a plus.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to handle a range of personalities.

Responsibilities

• Assist with job planning, site visits, and training technicians and drivers in safe project execution.
• Set standards at new job sites and assist with training of personnel.
• Coordinate with Operations, Logistics, Engineering, HSE from start to finish of a project.
• Monitor SCADA on-site and remotely to optimize resource use.
• Coordinate with third-party vendors to ensure timely and safe equipment delivery.
• Provide preventative and corrective services on gas compression equipment at Certarus and customer sites.
• Ensure safe and efficient setup and readiness of equipment.
• Collaborate with training teams to align technician competencies with job requirements.

Summary:

The Special Projects Technician will be responsible for the implementation and execution of various Special Projects Operations. Responsible for cross-training support of local personnel (CNG, RNG & H2) and in some cases, the Customer. Ensuring all needs of the project are met and provide technical assurance for the safe, efficient and optimum operations of all equipment. The Special Projects Technicians are required to travel for work frequently, and the trips will be up to a few weeks at a time. This position reports to the Senior Manager - Special Projects.

Schedule:

• Location – The position can be based near any Certarus hubs in the US. Some strategic exceptions if in a surrounding state
• Hours of work will be set and can flex based on the business needs of the Special Projects or supporting local hubs
• Extensive travel required; schedule subject to change (generally a 21-7 or 14-4)

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Support the Special Projects with tasks such as job planning, site visits, training technicians and drivers in the safe execution of projects and providing a high level of technical support
• Set the standards at new job sites and assist with training of other personnel
• Work in conjunction with Operations, Logistics, Sales, Engineering, HSE, from start to finish of a project
• Monitor SCADA system onsite & remote to ensure effective utilization of resources
• Coordinate with third-party vendors to ensure all necessary equipment is delivered on time and safely
• Provide preventative and corrective services on gas compression and process equipment on both Certarus and customer sites as needed
• Ensure safe and efficient setup of equipment
• Work with maintenance and local hubs to ensure equipment is function-tested and job ready
• Coordinate with hubs to ensure adequate equipment for upcoming jobs in the area
• Support tracking of all equipment as required
• Collaborate with training team to ensure training correlates to technician competencies regarding CNG, RNG & H2 and aligns with job requirements
• Utilize company credit card responsibility and conduct monthly reporting
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• 3-5 years of applicable oil & gas experience, midstream or industrial experience. Relevant gas compression experience is a plus.
• Previous applications experience in CNG, LNG, Renewable Gas, or Hydrogen
• Troubleshooting experience with engines, compressor mechanics, production equipment, gas compression, electrical and instrumentation
• Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills and an ability to deal tactfully with a wide range of personalities
• Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and willing to drive long distances
• Willingness to fly
• Remain flexible with scheduling and start times
• Must be a safety-minded, self-starter, team player, and can manage your own time efficiently
• Maintaining a safe and professional driving record
• Clean Motor Vehicle Record(s) (MVR & PSP) with no suspensions
• TWIC or ability to obtain
• Texas RRC certification or ability to obtain
