Job summary

Nutrition 101 LLC – Pendleton, IN is seeking a Special Projects Maintenance Technician for the 2nd shift. This role installs and implements various company projects across facilities, maintains building systems, and troubleshoots equipment to ensure safe, efficient operation.

The technician will perform preventative maintenance, respond to emergencies, and work with the Facilities and Equipment Manager to meet project deadlines.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; technical cert preferred.
  • 3+ years maintenance in manufacturing or facilities.
  • OSHA 10/30 and forklift certification.
  • Ability to read schematics and read blueprints.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
  • Diagnose and repair malfunctions to minimize downtime.

Job Summary

101’s Special Projects Maintenance Technician is responsible for installing and implementing various 101 projects at all facilities, and maintaining the functionality, safety, and appearance of 101 facilities by performing a variety of maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting tasks. This role ensures building systems, equipment, and infrastructure operate efficiently. Key responsibilities include conducting preventive maintenance, addressing repairs, and responding to facility emergencies in a timely and effective manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead by example in the adherence to all Company policies, processes, and procedures in accordance with the Employee Manual, Safety Manual, Department Manuals, etc.
  • Conduct regular inspections of facility systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment, to identify and prevent potential issues.
  • Follow scheduled maintenance routines to optimize equipment performance, reduce unexpected breakdowns, and extend the life of facility systems
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical malfunctions in equipment and perform necessary repairs.
  • Replace or adjust defective components using tools, diagnostic equipment, and technical expertise to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections to identify hazards and implement measures to mitigate risks within the facility.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues as they arise to minimize downtime and prevent further damage. Assist operators in corrective action.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, replacements, and maintenance activities within a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) or manual logs.
  • Utilize any new CMMS software implemented within the company.
  • Track inventory of maintenance supplies and tools, notifying management when supplies need to be ordered.
  • Track inventory levels of supplies needed for common repairs, and work with the Inventory Manager to replenish items as needed.
  • Assist with the installation, setup, and testing of new machinery or equipment as part of facility upgrades or improvement projects, as directed by the Facilities and Equipment Manager.
  • Collaborate with other teams to provide technical input on equipment layout, efficiency improvements, and maintenance best practices.
  • Perform general maintenance tasks to keep the facility clean and organized, including repairs to walls, flooring, lighting, and plumbing fixtures.
  • Manage internal projects and adhere to deadlines.
  • Work with Engineering and Operations staff to ensure timely completion of new installations and maintenance and repair activity, considering production needs.
  • Coordinate with external contractors and service providers for specialized repairs, upgrades, or installations. Obtain quotes, negotiate service terms, and oversee the quality of work done by external vendors.
  • Attend all Company meetings, trainings, and certifications as required.
  • Be willing to train others as needed.
Key Qualifications
  • Valid Driver's License (Real ID) and ability to travel across sites as needed.
  • High School Diploma or GED, required. Technical Certificate or Associate's Degree in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Technology, HVAC, or related field, preferred.
  • 3+ years of maintenance, millwright, or industrial/electromechanical experience in a manufacturing, facilities, or distribution environment (special projects/startup, a plus)
  • OSHA 10/30. Strong working knowledge of OSHA best practices and basic NFPA 70E awareness.
  • Forklift Certification.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair AC/DC circuits, motors, drives, sensors, relays, pneumatics, hydraulics, pumps, conveyors, and general building systems (HVAC, plumbing, lighting).
  • Ability to diagnose issues using multimeters, clamp meters, thermal imagers, vibration/temperature tools, and other diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to read/interpret Blueprints/Schematics: electrical schematics, P&IDs, mechanical drawings, and OEM manuals.
  • Working knowledge of maintenance software applications/CMMS: Document work orders, PMs, parts usage, and asset history in CMMS; leverage PM calendars and

  • Basic understanding of PLC I/O, sensors, VFDs, HMIs for troubleshooting (no programming required)

Physical Requirements
  • Mobility: Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods during a typical shift.
  • Lifting/Carrying: Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs independently; occasionally more with team lift or mechanical assistance.
  • Manual Dexterity: Use hand and power tools, test instruments, and small components requiring fine motor skills.
  • Heights/Spaces: Comfort working at heights (ladders, lifts, mezzanines) and in confined spaces, following all safety protocols.
  • Environmental Conditions: Work in manufacturing/warehouse environments with variable temperatures, elevated noise, dust, odors, and occasional exposure to chemicals (with appropriate PPE).
  • Vision/Hearing: Ability to read schematics and instrument displays; hear alarms, equipment sounds, and verbal instructions in a noisy environment (hearing protection provided as required).
  • Travel/Driving: Occasional travel between facilities; ability to operate a company vehicle (valid driver’s license; acceptable motor vehicle record).
  • Schedule Flexibility: Ability to support off-shift, weekend, or on-call work for urgent repairs, startups, or project cutovers as needed.
  • PPE: Ability to wear required PPE (e.g., safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, respirator if needed) and adhere to all safety policies.
