  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate communication between committees and assist with implementation of work plan items.
  • Become familiar with all persons and groups involved in the commercial district and understand their roles.
  • Assist with public awareness and education programs to promote district assets and foster goals via speaking engagements and media appearances.
  • Coordinate the volunteer base, review applications, and provide recommendations to the Special Projects Manager.
  • Create and maintain special projects including Public Art and Volunteer Programming.
  • Assist with planning and coordination of Main Street events throughout the year.
  • Handle administrative tasks including purchasing, record keeping, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Coordinate rental of City properties and secure facilities for events.
  • Build relationships with local and state public agencies and participate in trainings.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

This position is responsible for assistance with the administration of special economic development activities within the City of South Fulton. This position coordinates marketing initiatives, business appointment calls, and other general City events and volunteer program recruitment, retention, and project coordination.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Fun fctions:

  • Coordinate activity ensuring that communication between committees is well established; assist committees with implementation of work plan items.
  • Become familiar with all persons and groups directly or indirectly involved in the commercial district. Mindful of the roles of various district interest groups.
  • Assist with ongoing public awareness and education programs designed to enhance appreciation of the districts assets and to foster goals and objectives through speaking engagements, media interviews and appearances, keeping the program highly visible in the community.
  • Coordinate the volunteer base, including review of volunteer applications and provides recommendations to the Special Projects Manager.
  • Creating and maintaining special projects including Public Art, Volunteer Programming
  • Assist with the planning and coordination of all Main Street events throughout the year.
  • Assist with all administrative aspects including purchasing, record keeping, budget development and some bookkeeping; preparing all reports required by the state Main Street program and by the National Trust Main Street Center, assisting with the preparation of reports to funding agencies; and supervising part-time employees or consultants when appropriate.
  • Coordinates the rental of City properties; Secures/reserves facilities used for special events.
  • Help build strong and productive working relationships with appropriate public agencies at the local and state levels.
  • As part of the accreditation process, attends annual Main Street Training, and required continuing education in the Department of Community Development and Regulatory Affairs
  • Assist with the planning and preparation of presentations at City Council meetings regarding City events, such tasks include: writing supporting memorandum for agenda cover sheet, development of PowerPoint presentation and verbal presentation to members of Council and the community
  • Represents the City of South Fulton Main Street Program at various agency functions and meetings
  • Works with local organizations, community outreaches, colleges, local school and other organizations to promote and to facilitate partnerships
  • Assist in scheduling, coordinating and promoting new business ribbon cuttings.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND TRAINING

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND STANDARDS REQUIRED

Physical Requirements:

This position classifies the physical exertion requirements has the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation. Some tasks require and that ability to perceive and discriminate visual cues or signals.
