Working under general supervisor, performs a variety of procedures in the maintenance of carpet, hard floor care, soft/rubber floor care, and upholstery cleaning/sanitizing. Ensure that the equipment is kept in top working condition, that chemicals and facilities are maintained in a safe and sanitary condition. The standard work shift is 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. Monday through Friday working a 40-hour workweek. Work shift times may be switched if needed. Call-ins, overtime and emergency hours may be required.

Department: Daily contact with co-workers to exchange information
University: Occasional contact with university staff to exchange information.
External: Occasional contact with outside vendors for training with new equipment or new procedures to do the job.
Students: Occasional contact with students, guiding people around the floor work so there are no falls.

Experience: 3 years of floor-work experience.
Education/licensing: High school education required. A valid Ohio driver¿s license free of significant violations and maintaining an acceptable driving record are conditions of employment.
The employee will be directly exposed to excessive noise, fumes and dust, blood borne pathogens, chemicals, commercial products, infectious agents, pesticides or herbicides, radioactive materials. The employee will be around and using moving machinery, powered industrial vehicle and has access to restricted areas(s). Work environment will include being outdoors during all types of weather, and it requires physical strength and endurance. Frequent heavy lifting of up to 60 lbs., carrying, walking, standing, bending, stooping, stretching, and climbing of stairs. Must be able to pass required physical examination, including baseline evaluations of hearing and vision. Must provide a home telephone number; must be able to work night and weekend shifts; must be available to work on emergencies. The employee will drive a university vehicle from building to building with the equipment. Must have a current Hepatitis-B inoculation. Other immunizations may be required in the future, depending on regulatory requirements.
